Facebook added 56 custom gender options on February 13 for users of the website that do not identify themselves simply as “male” or “female.”

Users who want their Facebook friends to know that they consider themselves to be anything from “gender fluid” to “transsexual” to “two-spirit” can now conveniently convey that right on their profile page.

Facebook also now offers users their choice of “preferred pronoun,” so instead of alerting a user’s friends to wish “him” a happy birthday, it would remind those friends to send regards to “her” or “them,” depending on the user’s preference.

This news demonstrates that the efforts to reshape society are intensifying and advancing in ever more radical ways.
