September 11 in Benghazi, Libya

Last week marked the 13th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. It was a tragedy the world had never experienced before. It is a vivid and deeply emotional memory that is printed in the minds of each American—watching a jumbo jet plunge into a skyscraper, a ball of fire emerging with plumes of black smoke pouring out the side, and then fifteen minutes later watching the same thing happen again. Later that day another plane hit the Pentagon and another crashed into a Pennsylvania field. September 11, 2001, was one of America’s darkest days.

Fast-forward 11 years, and the tragic memory of September 11 is made even darker by the attacks on a U.S. Embassy in Libya. The assault left three American officials dead, as well as an ambassador. In today’s episode, we take a look at the facts that occurred on this historic day in Benghazi and what it means for America.
