Palestinian Terrorist Attack Highlights Growing Tension in Israel
On Wednesday, a Palestinian man attacked people on a bus in Tel Aviv. He stabbed at least 11 people, seriously wounding four. The man was chased down by the police and arrested after being shot in the leg.
This is the latest in a recent streak of terrorist attacks by Palestinians using knives, acid and vehicles to injure and kill Israelis.
Hamas did not claim responsibility for the attack, but did praise it. Hamas is the Islamic terrorist group that controls the Gaza Strip.
Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev responded to Hamas’s praise:
Soundbite: “The Hamas, President [Mahmoud] Abbas’s partner in the Palestinian Unity pact, praised this morning’s terror attack, and in doing so Hamas once again demonstrated that it is a ruthless and brutal terrorist organization.”
On Sunday, Israel killed a prominent Hezbollah fighter and five others in an airstrike on Syria’s Golan Heights. One of the six killed was an Iranian general. The Hezbollah terrorist group is now involved in the Syrian civil war, backing Syrian President Bashar Assad. The Iranian general killed was reportedly advising Hezbollah in their common goal.
Israel said the airstrike was carried out to prevent an attack on Israeli soil.
The recent escalation of violence continues to show that peace between Israel and the Palestinians is not possible. For more information on what the Trumpet forecasts for this tiny nation in the Middle East, request our free booklet Jerusalem in Prophecy.
