Russia May Be Building New Nuclear Plant in Iran

Russia will build a second nuclear power plant in the Bushehr region of Iran, Iran’s state fars news agency reported yesterday.

fars claimed that Russia’s Rosatom had announced that it would begin construction this year, in line with a deal they made with the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran in March 2014.

Iran has been operating one Russian made nuclear plant in Bushehr since 2013. The oil-rich Islamic republic plans to build a total of 20 nuclear power plants for what it claims are peaceful purposes.
