What Can You Do in a Chaotic World?

Are you concerned about the present state of the world?

Are you concerned about riots, crime, hatred, populists, sexists, racists, liars, broken families, terrorism, starving children, never-ending wars, a coming nuclear holocaust, and other world troubles?

Are you disturbed by America’s rapid decline? Alarmed by Europe’s radical transformation and military unification? Are you worried about Russia and China dominating the world? Does the thought of a nuclear-armed Iran make you uneasy?

Are you watching world events with anxiety, hoping the world will not explode?

Do you think the problems are too big for one man to fix? Perhaps President-elect Donald Trump’s promises to make America great again sound unrealistic to you. Do you fear that mankind is incapable of solving its own problems?

If so, this article is for you.

Although the unprecedented geopolitical explosions of yesterday seem to fade when faced with the headlines of today, remembering them might provide some direction in an otherwise unpredictable world.

Consider what preceded Trump’s rise. On Jan. 16, 2016, the United States gave Iran’s nuclear ambition free rein. Did you wonder why America made that deal? Not only has Iran promised to obliterate Israel, it is the chief sponsor of terrorism, largely responsible for horrific suffering in Syria. Shouldn’t America be concerned that Iran has already broken the deal? Why would it risk supplying nukes to terrorists? And what about the shameful ransom for the four hostages in Iran? Why are the concerns of the people ignored?

Trying to understand foreign policies today can be complicated.

But you might be even more concerned about what is currently happening on American soil. How many have died in race riots? Remember Baltimore, Ferguson, Dallas? As of late November, more than 60 police officers were gunned down this year. Forty-nine people were murdered in the Orlando terrorist attack. How many has the Islamic State killed in the U.S. alone? Perhaps these troubles have been drowned out by the riots against Mr. Trump’s electoral victory.

If the direction America is heading concerns you, take a look at the rest of the world!

Thought About Moving?

Maybe you briefly thought about moving when you heard about the terrorist attack in the town next to you, or as your local police officers got shot, or as you saw riots passing your front porch, or as you learned that your daughter has to share a bathroom with a transgender person. But where would you go?

Europe comes to mind. You are attracted to its beautiful landscape, wonderful art, majestic castles, and the seemingly overwhelming friendliness toward foreigners. But don’t forget the refugee crisis. The brutal civil war in Syria has caused millions to flee. Those millions have completely changed Europe!

Paris, the city of love, is stained by terrorism; Cologne, a city proud of its freedom, now enslaved to fear; Brussels, the heart of Europe’s headquarters, now known as a magnet for terrorism. Want to omit these from your travel list? What about the half a dozen other places where terrorism has hit Europe since then?

True, it is still unlikely that you would be hurt by a terrorist attack. Maybe you’re more concerned about the migrant gangs that have taken over Germany’s streets. Or the rise of populists, or the hundreds of attacks committed against refugees. Never heard about those? I am not surprised; the government does its best to conceal them.

Perhaps you consider moving to Britain. It seems safe. But consider Brexit. Do you want to move to a country with a future even more uncertain and unpredictable than America’s? Analysts warn that once Britain leaves the EU it faces isolation and possible economic collapse.

The Brexit leaves Europe free to unite politically without restraint? Is an EU army about to emerge? Will Germany now dominate Europe?

Consider Donald Trump’s campaign promises. He said Europe should defend itself. He’s fed up with all the aid America gives to countries that can help themselves. He wants the U.S. military to take a less prominent role in the world. Germany may feel compelled to step into the driver’s seat if Britain and the U.S. abandon the steering wheel. But where will Germany lead Europe? More importantly, who will lead Germany: Chancellor Angela Merkel or a populist? What if the refugee crisis gets out of control? What if another terrorist attack strikes Germany? Could we see another Adolf Hitler rise to power?

You’re exaggerating, you might reason. This is still the most peaceful time in mankind’s history! Things have always been far from perfect, but the history of mankind continues! It’s the news media’s fault: They make everything seem so bad and stir up fear.

Have you thought about moving to Russia, China or North Korea? Probably not, because of the frequent reports of their governments’ suppression of human rights and insane foreign-policy agendas. But on the bright side: Their citizens might not care. They might not even know that they are being repressed and shut off from the rest of the world. Maybe that’s exactly what you want: to close your eyes and shut your ears to the horrible world around you. But let me warn you: You can’t hide very long before the world finds you.

Is there any other option? you ask. I can’t change this world! I can’t feed the thousands who starve to death everyday. I can’t build houses for the millions who have lost their homes. I can’t even stop my friend from drinking, my neighbor from rioting, or my future president from insulting. What can I do?!

If you have been reading the Trumpet and its forerunner the Plain Truth for a while, you have probably noticed that we foretold the decline of America. We warned that the outbreak of race riots would come; and that the U.S. would return to isolationism. We warned that Russia and China would unite, while smaller nations would be suppressed; that Britain would leave the EU; that Germany would dominate Europe and turn back to its Christian roots; and that Iran would provoke the whole world. How could we know? Read our free booklet He Was Right. (And if you aren’t already, subscribe to our monthly magazine the Philadelphia Trumpet.)

You might think: I admit your analysis is spot on, your facts are bulletproof, your forecasts are typically right, and the world is in chaos—but I don’t believe in fables! Bible prophecy? I am not crazy! I ignore your Bible references because I don’t believe in doomsday preaching.

Well, what is holding you back from looking into God’s Word? After all, people search for aliens. What’s wrong with searching for the truth? Why not request our free literature and prove to yourself whether there is a God who foretold the present state of this world? What do you have to lose? The literature is free.

Maybe you have studied Bible prophecy, and that’s what worries you the most. The prophecies of natural disasters, race wars, the mark of the beast and the coming nuclear holocaust are inconceivable and disturbing to you, and you don’t want to wrap your mind around them.

You have the choice! You have the choice between ignoring it and proving it. Your choice might change your life, just like the rising of the sun changes darkness to light.

Maybe you, as a longtime reader of the Trumpet, agree with all that we write, but you still wonder: What can I do?

If so, you are probably at the same point as so many of those the Apostle Peter addressed in the first century. Compare their reaction with yours: “Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?” (Acts 2:37)

If your heart is “pricked” like theirs, you can read Peter’s answer in your own Bible, verse 38, and decide for yourself if you want to heed Peter’s advice and take the next step. If you do, start by requesting our free booklet Repentance Toward God and enter into a new life of overwhelming joy.
