The Lion of the Tribe of Judah
Your Bible urges dedicated true Christians to emulate the Lion of the tribe of Judah—Jesus Christ. Proverbs 28:1 says that “the righteous are bold as a lion.” Revelation 3:21 challenges us to overcome as Christ did. He conquered Satan, and so must we to qualify to sit with Christ on His throne at His Second Coming.
We are living in “perilous times” (2 Timothy 3:1). One of the biggest problems of our age is a powerless form of religion that can never please God (verse 5). The so-called religious reject the Lion of Judah, who otherwise could be living in them through the Holy Spirit and supplying miraculous power in their everyday lives!
The majority of God’s own Church has rejected the Lion of the tribe of Judah. “Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee” (Revelation 3:9). Ninety-five percent of God’s own people have rebelled against Him in this end time, yet they still call themselves spiritual Jews. Only true Christians, those who remain loyal to God, are spiritual Jews.
“And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof” (Revelation 5:1-5).
No one can understand the Bible unless the Lion of Judah unlocks it! Jesus Christ is the “Root of David” because He created King David and everything in the entire universe—including the awesome human mind. This is the kind of power available to you and me!
“And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth” (verses 9-10). Jesus Christ was marred more than any man—to the point that He didn’t look like a man anymore—to pay for our sins and to give us the opportunity to reign with Him when He returns. God’s loyal people are being prepared to rule the Earth, then plant the heavens (Isaiah 51:16). This reward is only available to God’s firstfruits—those who give themselves as living sacrifices to God today.
The Lion of the tribe of Judah must live in us (Galatians 2:20). You can have the very same faith and mind of Christ! Follow His example (1 Peter 2:21); follow the Lion of the Tribe of Judah.
Anciently, the tribe of Judah led the nation of Israel in every march (Numbers 2:3)—including the march to the Promised Land, which is a type of the Kingdom of God. Historian and poet Geoffrey Keating wrote about the symbol, or ensign, of the noble tribe of Judah: a powerful lion. Like Judah led the way for ancient Israel, God’s spiritual Jews will soon lead the entire world into God’s Kingdom!
“And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days. … The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be” (Genesis 49:1, 10). This prophecy is for our time. God made the scepter promise to Judah, meaning that Judah’s descendants would always possess David’s throne—the same throne that Christ will rule from when He returns.
Verse 10 also includes a separate promise from God to Judah about a lawgiver. In this end time, the scepter and the law have been combined. God has given a new throne of David to His own people. They now have the power and authority of a king and a priest. This will remain true until “Shiloh,” or Christ, returns. (Request my free book The New Throne of David to learn more about the stunning dual promise to His Church that God has now fulfilled.)
God wants us to focus on the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the eternal God Being who led the Israelites through the wilderness and into the Promised Land, and who later became Jesus Christ and defeated Satan. He expects us to cling to the new throne of David like the Lion! (verse 9).
Without the power of the Lion of the tribe of Judah on their side, the British people have lost the throne of David. The Lion wants to empower us, just like God the Father empowered Him to endure a savage, barbaric crucifixion to pay for our sins. Ninety-five percent of God’s people have lost that truth, focus and throne-of-David vision.
“Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?” (Amos 3:4). The Lion of Judah always has a reason for roaring! He roars by sending out a warning message through His people. We need the Holy Spirit to deliver our Lion’s roar. He is about to pounce and punish the modern descendants of ancient Israel, but He will always roar first.
“Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it? … The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord God hath spoken, who can but prophesy?” (verses 6, 8). God wants physical and spiritual Israel to wake up!
Satan is the god of this evil world (2 Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 12:9). He will snatch the truth away from us if we don’t have the fighting spirit of the Lion of the tribe of Judah.
The nations of Israel, primarily America, Britain and the Jewish state, once cherished the Lion. (Request our free book The United States and Britain in Prophecy, by Herbert W. Armstrong, to prove the identity of biblical Israel.) The Prophet Jeremiah transported David’s throne from Judah to Ireland. The throne was later moved to Scotland and then to England. All over these nations, you can see lions depicted in sculptures and on flags and banners.
God protected the British Empire in World War ii. The British were the only people standing in Adolf Hitler’s way for a long time. Prime Minister Winston Churchill said that he wasn’t the Lion, but that he was able to give the Lion’s roar sometimes. He exhorted the populace to never surrender—to choose to die choking on their own blood before even thinking of surrendering! Does Britain have the Lion of Judah fighting on its side today? Are the people today anywhere near as bold and courageous as Churchill was? They ought to be thanking God for this lionlike leader and following his inspiring example!
It’s easy to understand why God would remove His throne from the British royal family and establish it in the midst of His loyal people who still follow the Lion of Judah. God will continue to bless and empower His people—if we will just cling to that great power.
