Retired Generals Warn of the End of America
“Our nation is in deep peril. We are in a fight for our survival as a constitutional republic like no other time since our founding in 1776.” Those words all but thunder from the pages of an open letter signed by 120 retired American generals and admirals.
But what made them ring most in my mind is that we’ve heard them before. Over the last few years we’ve heard a lot from Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry on the threat to our constitutional republic. Consider some examples:
- “… Barack Obama and his inner circle almost destroyed the United States by changing America from a constitutional republic” (“The Hidden Message of the Horowitz Report,” October 2020).
- “Never have we seen a more bitterly divided America, and this man who fundamentally transformed America caused much of this division. He almost destroyed America’s constitutional republic” (“America Has Been ‘Fundamentally Transformed,’” March 2020).
- “So the great superpower of Israel, America, was really very close to collapsing when Mr. Trump came into power. Now, that may sound a little outrageous, but it is biblical and it is prophetic and you can prove everything that I’m saying and prove it very precisely. Our constitutional republic was on the precipice of a total failure” (Key of David episode, May 11, 2018).
I could easily keep going. As Mr. Flurry said, at times the claim that the constitutional republic of America was at stake may have seemed outrageous. Now a hack on a single pipeline has exposed how vulnerable America’s oil infrastructure is. War is breaking out in the Middle East. And 120 flag officers agree with Mr. Flurry.
Their open letter is well worth reading. They warn that the radical left is busy changing election rules to “allow Democrats to forever remain in power, violating our Constitution and ending our representative republic.” From China to Iran to violence in U.S. cities, the officers detail the many ways the Biden administration is empowering America’s enemies.
But Mr. Flurry detailed all of this years ago. In January 2009, our first issue after Barack Obama’s election, we published “The Radical Left’s Attack on the Constitution” as the cover of our Trumpet newsmagazine. In his article, Mr. Flurry warned of the “radical turn this nation has taken” and “just how much the extreme radicals have gotten control.”
He pointed out that Obama had complained that the Warren court “didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution,” quoting from a 2001 radio interview Obama gave. Right from the start, it was clear Mr. Obama wanted to “break free” from the Constitution.
“Can we see what this watershed election means for the future of this nation?” Mr. Flurry asked. In hindsight, I think we call can.
“What a huge shift! What happens to make people so drastically different from how they were just 10 years ago?” he asked. “Why is America acting like it is in a trance while this radicalization takes place? Because the nation is rapidly degenerating before our eyes.”
In the years since, Mr. Flurry’s warnings became stronger. Meanwhile many, even on the right, insisted we were simply seeing business as usual. This is just politics in America; after every election the other side is painted as the worst, most terrible ever. But it’s clear there’s something very abnormal here.
In his booklet Great Again, first published in 2016, Mr. Flurry warns that the “pillars of American history and identity are being vilified and destroyed.”
In his latest article “What Will Happen After Trump Regains Power,” he explained that President Donald Trump was the legitimate winner of the 2020 election, but “the indication is that regaining office may take considerable work. Donald Trump will have to fight for it. It doesn’t have to be military action, but it certainly could.”
He continued: “President Trump could also lead some states to secede from the union. That would lead to some kind of warfare.”
Does that sound “a little outrageous”? Yet already top military leaders are lining up behind Mr. Trump.
Mr. Flurry’s forecasts have been so far ahead because they’re based on Bible prophecy. His articles don’t talk only about the Bible, but the Bible underpins it all. That biblical understanding is critical to understanding modern events.
We have been surprised by some of the twists and turns of those events, but we’ve been forecasting the general direction for years—because God lays it all out in the Bible.
To get the latest on what the Bible says about events in America, read Mr. Flurry’s most recent article, “What Will Happen After Trump Regains Power.” And to really understand what is happening and how it all ties in to God’s plan, read Mr. Flurry’s free booklet Great Again.
