Brooks was released from jail last Friday after he made bail in a case where he allegedly ran over a woman with his car. The judge in that case set Brooks’s bail at $1,000, a shockingly low amount for someone with a criminal record as long as his. The media and federal government are already working to bury the details of Brooks’s latest crime because it doesn’t fit the narrative that “there’s nothing more frightening in America today than an angry white man,” as CNN wrote just hours before the Waukesha massacre.
