Why You Can’t Bear Arms but the IRS Can
Why You Can’t Bear Arms but the IRS Can
The United States is no longer a constitutional republic. Its presidency has been stolen, its border lies undefended, and its administrative agencies have been weaponized against the people. The August 8 raid on Donald Trump’s home spotlighted the danger of out-of-control law enforcement agencies. But this raid was far from the first time an administrative agency has abused its authority.
Over the past several years, the size, scope and power of America’s federal government have grown at an alarming rate. Even liberal law professors are now warning that the vast majority of the nation’s laws no longer come from the people’s elected representatives in Congress and state governments. Instead, people are governed by laws decreed as “regulations,” imposed by an army of unelected, unaccountable, unreachable bureaucrats.
And the word army is an apt metaphor. There are now 103 executive agencies (outside the United States military) that spend millions of dollars per year stockpiling rifles, pistols, ammunition, tactical gear and other equipment. A December 2020 report from American Transparency noted that from 2006 to 2019, the Department of Veterans Affairs spent $11.6 million on weapons and military gear; the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service spent $3.9 million on weapons, drones and LP gas cannons. Even the Railroad Retirement Board purchased $50,000 in weapons.
The Internal Revenue Service’s purchases are stunning: It has stockpiled an estimated 4,500 firearms and 5 million rounds of ammunition, and spent $725,000 on ammunition this year. And it’s not done yet.
Federal officials and representatives, especially those who are radical liberals, routinely decry the destructive power of “military-style assault rifles.” So why do they have so many?
The “deep state” is arming itself to the teeth for a sinister reason.
‘Deep State’ Arsenal
The Biden administration is overseeing the most significant expansion of the domestic police state in U.S. history. The deceptively named Inflation Reduction Act does nothing to reduce inflation but earmarks $80 billion for the irs to hire 87,000 new employees, more than doubling its personnel, many of whom will carry weapons. One irs job posting for criminal investigation special agents called for applicants who were willing to “carry a firearm” and “willing to use deadly force.” After a public outcry, this job posting was edited. Yet the government still plans to hire 300 irs special agents with firearm authority.
Democratic lawmakers say these new hires are necessary to prevent tax evasion. Still, many Republicans find the sheer volume of guns and ammo the deep state is stockpiling concerning.
Rep. Matt Gaetz told Fox News on June 21, “So here’s the Biden plan: Disarm Americans, open the border, empty the prisons—but rest assured, they’ll still collect your taxes, and they need $725,000 worth of ammunition, apparently, to get the job done.”
Gaetz introduced a bill in Congress on July 7 called the Disarm the irs Act, which would ban the agency from purchasing guns, ammunition and military equipment. Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act instead. Radical Democrats want federal agencies to have more firepower, not less.
The founders of the United States specifically avoided granting the federal government any policing power. Policing was left to the states and the electorate. Over time, the federal government has accorded to itself more and more policing power. Now over 100 agencies have such powers and authorization to use deadly force against American citizens. This includes not just the Marshals Service, the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security and the Secret Service, but also the Social Security Administration, the Small Business Administration and the National Archives and Records Administration.
Investigative journalist Adam Andrzejewski, founder of American Transparency, has been reporting on the militarization of U.S. executive agencies since the Obama administration. “Just who are the federal agencies preparing to battle?” Andrzejewski recently asked Epoch Times. “Our data shows that the federal government has become a gun show that never adjourns. Taxpayers need to tell Washington that police power belongs primarily to cities and states, not the feds.”
There are more than 900,000 sworn law enforcement officers in the U.S., who are generally, if not completely, appointed by the communities they serve. But federal agents do not trust local law enforcement to enforce their unconstitutional dictates. So it is putting guns in the hands of its 200,000-plus agents to prepare for a future conflict with everyday Americans.
This deep state has a leader and an agenda. This is perhaps most visible in one of its most powerful agencies. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, which many recognize as an unconstitutional agency, was caught helping Barack Obama frame Donald Trump for Russian collusion, assisted Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, has helped install and maintain Joe Biden as president, and is hunting down Trump supporters who protested the theft of the 2020 presidential election.
The Founders’ Intent
The framers of the Constitution were deeply wary of standing armies in peacetime. They could have written an article, section or at least a clause that accorded the federal government a police agency to enforce regulations made by the executive branch and to raid the homes of citizens suspected of opposing the current president’s policies. They deliberately did not. Instead, they limited the power of the government, in particular the power of the federal government. They understood human nature and wanted to reduce threats to individual liberty.
James Madison noted, “In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and the next place, oblige it to control itself.” This is why the Constitution separates the powers of the federal government into legislative, executive and judicial branches and why it delegates the vast majority of law enforcement over local populations to their local representatives in their state and local governments.
This is why America’s law enforcement system comprises around 18,000 separate state and local entities. When law enforcement responsibilities, including authorization to use deadly force, are divided among 18,000 agencies led by elected local officials, it becomes difficult for anyone to set himself up as a tyrant. If a county sheriff abuses his office, he is directly accountable to his own electorate. The state and the nation as a whole remain unaffected.
The fbi, the irs, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Small Business Administration, the Railroad Retirement Board, the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and dozens of other federal agencies have a grand total of zero elected representatives. Each officer reports up a chain of command comprised of zero elected officials until it reaches the president of the United States. If a federal officer abuses his office, he is accountable only to his agency superiors.
Outside of a few well-defined crimes, such as counterfeiting, treason and piracy, constitutional law mandates that law enforcement be a function of state and local government. The Constitution does not grant the government any power to establish a national police force, and the 10th Amendment states that powers not expressly granted to the federal government “are reserved to the states, respectively, or to the people.”
Local officials are accountable to the people. Many local sheriffs across America have refused to enforce unconstitutional gun grabs, mask mandates or vaccine requirements. The Biden regime is therefore attacking local police departments and the gun rights of American citizens while simultaneously empowering U.S. executive agencies. The man leading the regime, Barack Obama, understands that federal officials ultimately report to the federal executive: the president.
The national police force the founders avoided is now a well-armed reality. “A standing military force, with an overgrown executive,” Madison said, “will not long be safe companions to liberty.”
Hurtling Toward War
Many Americans now realize that they no longer live in a free republic but in an increasingly authoritarian technocracy run by powerful, unelected bureaucrats, civil servants, military leaders and intelligence agents. Many federal bureaucracies now possess the powers of the legislature (regulations), the judiciary (administrative “courts”), and the executive (enforcement by armed agents). So there is little the people can do to stand against deep state tyranny.
A Yahoo News–YouGov poll of 1,672 U.S. adults in July found that 33 percent of Trump voters in conservative states now believe they would be better off if their state seceded from the union and “became an independent country.”
In “What Will Happen After Trump Regains Power,” Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry explained that Donald Trump was the legitimate winner of the 2020 election. He showed how the Bible prophesies that Trump will return to power, but that he “will have to fight for it. It doesn’t have to be military action, but it certainly could. President Trump could also lead some states to secede from the union.”
Mr. Flurry has explained that President Trump is an end-time type of King Jeroboam ii, and he emphasized 2 Kings 14:26-28, which state: “For the Lord saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel. And the Lord said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash. Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?”
God used President Trump to save America from the forces seeking to destroy it six years ago, but the campaign to transform America into an authoritarian technocracy is stronger than ever. The radical Biden administration now has more than 200,000 agents authorized to use deadly force and millions of rounds of ammunition at hand. President Trump may truly be forced into a fight to save America!
