Where Are the Mighty Men of Israel?
The United States and Britain are both in leadership crises. Britain brought in another new prime minister yesterday, after the previous one resigned before completing even seven weeks on the job. Her predecessor was mired in scandal and failure.
The new prime minister, Rishi Sunak, took over for Liz Truss, who took power after promising to cut taxes and stimulate Britain’s seriously jeopardized economy. The narrative is that Truss resigned after trying to slash taxes without saying how her government would raise revenues. Yet one former Margaret Thatcher aide summarized things more succinctly, saying that Truss “surrendered to the left.” Radical leftists are actively destroying both Britain and the United States in an attempt to transform them into socialist states. Liz Truss got in their way.
Spiked writer Brendan O’Neill wrote that Truss’s tenure, which is the shortest in the 301-year history of the office, “deserves to live in ignominy. Not necessarily because her blunders were so spectacular—though many of them were—but because of what this strangled-at-birth stint in Downing Street tells us about British politics more broadly. Which is that it’s a wasteland. An ideological void. A dustbowl of ideas. The lack of even the faintest glimmer of leadership material anywhere in the Westminster circus is horrifying to me.”
British and American leadership is a wasteland.
In America, the official total of illegal immigrant arrests for fiscal year 2022 has been released. It’s 2.8 million, shattering the previous record by more than 1 million. Yet Democrats and establishment Republicans are allowing this disaster to roll on, even after tens of millions of Americans voted for Donald Trump in 2016 after he promised to secure the border.
The leadership picture is even bleaker than that. In 2020, Democrats outright stole presidential leadership. And establishment Republicans let them do it and are now working with them to keep the rightful president, Donald Trump, out of the White House. Democrats have attacked, accused, smeared, threatened, spied on, framed and impeached President Trump—even raiding his home. Establishment Republicans have tried to shove him out of the picture more subtly in order to court his voters. Jeb Bush recently told cnn’s Jake Tapper that he believes Republican voters are open to another 2024 presidential candidate besides Mr. Trump, and Mr. Trump’s own former vice president, Mike Pence, recently said that he himself “might prefer” to vote for someone else.
Two decades ago, Democrats viciously attacked President George W. Bush and his vice president, Dick Cheney, as genocidal warmongers when they stood up to radical Islam. But today, the radical left has teamed up with the Bushes and the Cheneys to keep President Trump from securing our southern border from a flood of illegal aliens and from strengthening the nation.
It is shocking to see just how much radical leftists like Jack Tapper and Christian conservatives like Jeb Bush agree on these days. They disagree on critical race theory and the sexual indoctrination of children, but they sound like old friends when discussing the need to keep Donald Trump out of the White House. It seems opposition to the “Make America Great Again” movement is the one thing uniting establishment politicians on both sides of the aisle.
Only a small minority of American leaders have the courage to speak out against the border crisis or the election steal, because the few who do speak out usually end up like former Trump adviser Steve Bannon—who was recently fined $6,500 and sentenced to four months in prison for defying a subpoena from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s sham January 6 committee.
It takes a tremendous amount of integrity and courage to stand against the radical left. Sadly, America is running out of leaders with these particular virtues. Our current politicians either want to profit at their nation’s expense or to keep a low profile by not offending those guilty of Hunter Biden-level corruption.
God actually prophesied this sad situation over 2,700 years ago when He inspired the Prophet Isaiah to write about the lack of leadership ancient Israel’s descendants would have in the end time—our time.
“For, behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water. The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient, The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator. And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable” (Isaiah 3:1-5).
Because of the sins of the nation, God has taken away the honorable man, the counselor, the cunning artificer and the eloquent orator. He has allowed selfish, spoiled, childish leaders (as well as literal children) to become the nation’s princes, or rulers. That is why so-called conservative leaders like Bill Barr, Mike Pence and Jeb Bush are surrendering to the radical left. They do not have the integrity or courage to lead America.
Prophecies in Amos 7 and 2 Kings 14 foretell a time when America and Britain are suffering bitter affliction due to a lack of leadership. Specifically, 2 Kings 14 says that there is “no helper” for Israel, so God has to save the nation by using an end-time type of King Jeroboam ii. My father, Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry, had identified Donald Trump as this end-time Jeroboam because he is the only leader trying to help the people. Everyone else is either passively watching the Anglo-Saxon and Israelite principles of this nation implode—or is actively destroying it, as in the case of Barack Obama.
Truss said, “I’m a fighter, not a quitter” the day before she resigned. Neither Truss nor Mike Pence nor virtually anyone else in power has the fighting spirit required to save their nations. The only way to sustain these nations, even temporarily, is to bring Donald Trump back to power. If God did not empower the “Make America Great Again” movement, then illegal immigration, skyrocketing inflation and numerous other curses would destroy us before people had a chance to turn their lives around.
But Trump cannot save the nation or the West permanently. Our one and only hope depends entirely on repenting of sin, so God is going to give us one last chance to do that (Amos 7:8).
