Pope Pays First Visit to Bahrain
Pope Francis became the first pope ever to visit Bahrain, yesterday. He will remain there until Sunday.
Bahrain is 70 percent Muslim but still home to over 160,000 Catholics—mostly immigrants from Asia.
Bahrain has long been a battleground between Iran and Saudi Arabia, competing to bring it under their influence. Watch for the Catholic Church to play a bigger role in building an anti-Iran alliance made up of countries from both Europe and the Middle East.
