China and North Korea Write About Camaraderie

In a letter to North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that China is open to working closely with the nation. After Kim wrote a letter to Xi last month congratulating him on his unprecedented third term as head of China, Xi wrote back on November 22, reciprocating Kim’s outreach.

Kim’s letter: On October 23, state-run Korean Central News Agency (kcna) quoted Kim as writing:

I, together with you, will shape [a more] beautiful future of the [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea]-China relations meeting the demand of the times and lead the endeavors for its realization so as to continue to powerfully propel the socialist cause in the two countries.

Xi’s response: On November 26, kcna reported Xi’s reply to the letter and quoted him saying:

Through several rounds of meetings, I and my comrade, General Secretary [Kim], established important common understandings and progress in China-North Korea relations … to drive political resolutions to the [Korean] peninsula issues and safeguard the common interests of the two countries.

Pen pals prophesied? As most of the world denounces North Korea for threatening to become the strongest nuclear power in the world, China’s leader is treating North Korea as his pen pal. China is content with North Korea weaponizing because it takes the spotlight off China and its own diabolical plans. One day China may even be able to take advantage of North Korea’s strength.
