Guttenberg Debuts as Moderator
Former German Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg celebrated his tv debut on prime time as a moderator of rtl’s year-end review on Sunday evening, December 11. Though his tv talents didn’t impress everyone, what concerned Guttenberg most was addressing world problems.
During the live show, Guttenberg repeatedly brought up the crises that concern mankind the most, including:
- A discussion with Iranian exile artist Sanaz Safaie, and Iran’s reign of terror
- A discussion with Vitali Klitschko, mayor of Kyiv, on what kind of support Ukraine needs including military aid; the discussion was continued with two wartime journalists.
- A discussion on Germany’s economic trouble with Finance Minister Christian Lindner
- A debate with polarizing left-wing politician Sahra Wagenknecht about the causes of the Ukraine war and the government’s sanctions policy; Wagenknecht believes the United Kingdom and the United States were partly to blame and that sanctions and arms exports are counterproductive at the moment.
A success? Guttenberg and his cohost, Thomas Gottschalk, drew much criticism and some support for their performance (which they, in part, expected).
- The three hours on live tv mostly showed that Guttenberg is much more interested in geopolitics than in being a successful entertainer. He is even willing to risk being ridiculed as a moderator to accomplish his goal.
More media attention: Germany’s n-tv premiered Guttenberg’s docutainment presentation about Russian President Vladimir Putin on free tv the next day, followed by a live discussion that hosted Guttenberg and revolved around Germany’s economic crisis.
Why watch Guttenberg: Matching what Guttenberg brings to the table with Bible prophecy indicates that he is a man to watch. There are many indications that he wants to be the man who shapes Europe’s future. He is despised by seemingly half the country and loved by many others. Yet in the end it will be God who will set up a king over Europe to fulfill His prophecies.
Prophecy says: God “removeth kings, and setteth up kings”; He rules “in the kingdom of men, and … appointeth over it whomsoever he will” (Daniel 2:21; 5:21). For the end time, He is prophesied to raise up kings “to fulfil his will” (Revelation 17:17). Isaiah specifically reveals that God will primarily use Assyria, modern-day Germany, as “the rod of mine anger” (Isaiah 10:5). In this context God reveals that “a king of fierce countenance” would rise in Europe (Daniel 8:23). We may now see God raising up this prophesied king.
Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry has long stated that Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg is the likeliest man to fulfill this prophecy. This king will deal with the problems in Iran and Ukraine in his own way. But God will use him to punish His people Israel, primarily the United States and Britain. To learn how this prophesied king will fulfill God’s will but also bring evils of his own, read “Is KT zu Guttenberg About to Come to Power?”, by Gerald Flurry.
