Final Harry & Meghan Episodes Released

The final three episodes of Netflix’s new series Harry & Meghan were released this morning. Based on interviews with the duke and duchess of Sussex, the series—and the Sussexes—claims that the British monarchy, empire and the nation itself is fundamentally racist. It is not only institutions or historical legacies under attack. The documentary even threw shade at late Queen Elizabeth ii.

  • Then Princess Elizabeth’s famous 21st-birthday speech was edited to put the Queen in a bad light. She said in her speech: “I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong.”
  • The filmmakers edited out “your service and,” making it sound like the Queen was mainly interested in “the service of our great imperial family.”
  • The documentary also paints the Queen as controlled by her advisers. “People around her are telling her, ‘by the way, that proposal, or these two doing X, Y, Z is going to be seen as an attack on the institution,’” Harry said. “Then she’s going to go on the advice that she’s given.” He also claimed aides stopped the couple from visiting the Queen despite Elizabeth wanting a visit earlier.
  • Harry stated the Queen’s “ultimate, sort of, mission, goal, responsibility is the institution.” He claims that her protectiveness of the “institution” led to him being “forced out” of the family.
  • A comment Harry made about his brother William, prince of Wales, is revealing. “The saddest part of it was this wedge created between me and my brother so that he’s now on the institution side,” he said. “Part of that I get, I understand. That’s his inheritance, so part of that is already ingrained in him that part of his responsibility is the survivability and continuation of this institution.”
  • The British monarchy has, in some form or another, existed for well over a thousand years. Claiming he is against “the survivability and continuation of this institution” suggests Harry may have republican sympathies.

The future of the family: The Queen died only recently. Mere months into King Charles iii’s reign, his youngest son is causing trouble with his documentary. In the Trumpet’s November-December issue, editor in chief Gerald Flurry wrote, “I believe that now that the Queen has died, Britain’s demise will accelerate. We are about to see a very sad ending for that throne.” It looks like Harry & Meghan is contributing to this “very sad ending.”
