German Parliament Approves Purchase of F-35 Fighter Jets
Germany’s largest arms project in recent history is gaining steam: Germany’s Bundestag approved the purchase of the United States’ F-35 fighter jets on December 15. The budget committee agreed to the plan to procure 35 of the jets at a cost of almost €10 billion (us$10.6 billion).
- The Bundestag also voted in favor of other projects to be financed from the €100 billion special fund that was announced in February, such as the purchase of new assault rifles.
- At the press conference, Lt. Gen. Ingo Gerhartz, chief of staff of the German Air Force, emphasized that the Bundeswehr was now “moving into the supersonic range” in terms of procurement.
The nukes are waiting: The first F-35s are scheduled to enter service in 2028, replacing the Bundeswehr’s Tornados. The F-35s will enable Germany to use U.S. nukes stationed in the nation.
America is giving Germany access to its most-advanced and deadliest weapons. The crucial question is, does the United States really have control over those bombs?

A prophetic warning: Even though Germany appears to often move slowly and is overly bureaucratic, once it removes the shackles from its World War ii past, the Bible reveals it will astonish the world. Bit by bit we are seeing this prophesied new Germany appear. To learn more, read Mr. Flurry’s article “America’s Naive Trust in Germany.”
