Iowa Senator Says China Is ‘Intentionally Poisoning’ Americans With Fentanyl
With over 60,000 Americans dying from fentanyl overdoses each year, Iowa Senator Joni Ernst is accusing Communist China of intentionally poisoning Americans. The federal Commission on Combating Synthetic Opioid Trafficking revealed last year that most of the fentanyl in the United States is mass-produced in Mexico using chemicals from China before being pressed into pills or mixed with other drugs. Chinese and Mexican officials have stonewalled “information-sharing” and other steps to counteract the fentanyl trade, so Senator Ernst is calling foul play.
“The Chinese are selling these precursor chemicals into Mexico,” she told cbs News on February 11. “Then the Mexican cartels are working on making the fentanyl and distributing up into the United States. … I think that the Chinese are intentionally poisoning America.”
China’s drug offensive: Chinese leaders know the devastating effect narcotics can have. In the 1920s, Communist leader Mao Zedong instructed his subordinates to grow poppies, create opium, and traffic it into the non-Communist regions of China. This strategy destroyed the Chinese Communist Party’s enemies so effectively that Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai expanded his nation’s narcotics operations. In 1955, Zhou allegedly told Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser that the Communists would use drugs against the morale of U.S. forces in Asia, according to Edward R. Slack’s Opium, State and Society. Soviet statesman Mikhail Suslov said in 1964 that Zhou’s strategy was “to disarm the capitalists with the things they like to taste.”
There is scant evidence that any premier since Zhou has actively managed China’s narcotics trade. However, there is circumstantial evidence that China still incorporates “drug warfare” into a larger military strategy to destabilize rivals.
Destroying America’s willpower: The Chinese Communist Party and Mexican cartels are facilitating and profiting from this American self-destruction, but the blame ultimately lies with the depravities of the American people. Drug pushers may be putting this chemical weapon into the hands of Americans, but it is the Americans who are using it on themselves and demanding more and more “things they like to taste” from America’s self-avowed enemies.
The Apostle Peter wrote, “They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption; for whatever overcomes a man, to that he is enslaved” (2 Peter 2:19; Revised Standard Version). More Americans are now dying from drug addiction each year than died during the entire Vietnam War. Drugs are destroying America’s willpower and leading to a prophesied time when foreign enemies will enslave this nation. Only repentance can dismantle America’s culture of escapism and turn people to God’s wholesome way of life.
