Were U.S. Agencies Double Billed for Bioweapons Research in Wuhan?
A bill requiring the director of National Intelligence to declassify information on the origins of covid-19 has passed both houses of Congress. Hopefully, Joe Biden will sign it soon because there are questions about the government’s role in funding the research that may have caused the pandemic. For example, an investigator hired by Sen. Roger Marshall has found that government agencies may have been double billed for gain-of-function research projects at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
“What I’ve found so far is evidence that points to double billing, potential theft of government funds,” Diane Cutler, a former federal investigator with two decades of experience combating health-care fraud, told cbs News on March 13. “It is concerning, especially since it involves dangerous pathogens and risky research.”
After viewing over 50,000 documents, Cutler deduced that the National Institutes of Health (nih) and the United States Agency for International Development (usaid) may have paid for the same medical supplies, equipment, travel and salaries. The press office for nih did not respond to cbs News’s questions, and a spokesperson for usaid declined to comment, so Senator Marshall is now calling for a 9/11-style federal investigation.
“I think there are 1.1 million reasons that American taxpayers should care,” Senator Marshall told cbs News. “You’ll have a plane crash. We want to find out why the plane crashed. We go to any lengths to do that.”
Another source familiar with the investigation told the New York Post that the cost of the fraudulent payments likely exceeds $40 million but that nih and usaid record redactions have obscured the true number. Regardless of exactly how much money was double billed, we have records showing that the nih earmarked $600,000 for the Wuhan Institute of Virology over a five-year period to study whether bat coronaviruses could be transmitted to humans. And we have records that usaid earmarked $1.1 million for the Wuhan Institute of Virology over a 10-year period. So at least $1.7 million has been sent from the U.S. government to the Wuhan Institute since 2009 via the nonprofit group EcoHealth Alliance.
Two years ago, nih scientist Dr. Anthony Fauci defended his agency’s decision to fund the Wuhan Institute, saying, “We had a big scare with sars-CoV-1 back in 2002–2003 where that particular virus unquestionably went from a bat to an intermediate host to start an epidemic and a pandemic that resulted in 8,000 cases and close to 800 deaths. It would have been almost a dereliction of our duty if we didn’t study this, and the only way you can study these things is you’ve got to go where the action is.”
Yet Dr. Fauci omitted key details about the government’s involvement in Wuhan. American environment lawyer Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.— the son of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of President John F. Kennedy—revealed that Dr. Fauci moved his gain-of-function research to the Wuhan lab in 2014 after three viruses escaped from U.S. labs. These lab leaks prompted 300 scientists to send a letter to President Barack Obama asking him to ban gain-of-function research in the U.S. Obama complied but allowed an exception to this ban if “the research is urgently necessary to protect the public health or national security.” The “deep state” took advantage of this exception and continued funding gain-of-function research in Wuhan until Obama reauthorized this research in the U.S. just 11 days before Donald Trump took office.
So the research that the U.S. Army and the University of North Carolina began on sars-CoV-1 back in 2002 continued until Obama banned gain-of-function research in 2014. Then it got offshored to the Wuhan Institute of Virology until sars-CoV-2 leaked out in 2019. But U.S. taxpayers were funding the research the whole time.
Chinese diplomats want Fort Detrick and the University of North Carolina to be subject to “transparent investigations” regarding the origins tracing of covid-19. Still, the U.S. government seems eager to make it look like the pandemic was China’s fault now that people no longer believe the natural origins hypothesis. No one seems to want to expose the role the Obama administration played in this crisis.
“Dozens of government officials knew about what was really happening in Wuhan, but none of them leaked any information to the public,” Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry wrote in his book America Under Attack. “Some may have been too afraid to say anything, knowing how powerful and vindictive Obama is. But many Obama-era officials were Communists themselves, people who wanted to use the fear of a virus to justify draconian, unconstitutional lockdowns. These measures vastly increased the power of the state at the expense of individual freedoms. This was not an unfortunate, unavoidable by-product. This was the goal!”
Double billing U.S. agencies for research performed in Wuhan may have been a technique the Obama administration used to hide just how much gain-of-function research it was doing in Wuhan, but surely both Obama and Fauci knew the true amount of money being spent. The covid-19 pandemic, its cover-up, the government’s draconian reaction to it, and the election that was stolen by it trace back to a man who wants to fundamentally transform the U.S. by blotting out the blessings and traditions of this country.
