Wagner Receives 20,000 Helmets From China
Russia’s Wagner mercenary group bought 20,000 helmets from a Chinese company, Financial Times reported on May 19. In November and December, Broker Expert, a Russia-based company supplying Wagner’s forces, bought nearly $2.5 million worth of helmets from China’s Hangzhou Shinerain Import and Export Co. Wagner is using the helmets and other shipments from Broker Expert to supply forces fighting in Ukraine and Africa.
When questioned about the helmets, Hangzhou Shinerain Import and Export Co. said it is a “private company” that does “not get involved with the national affairs or military issues.” The company denied knowledge of Broker Expert’s links to Wagner and claimed that the helmets were for “gaming use.”
Financial Times also found that, in August 2022, a logging company controlled by Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin in the Central African Republic received power generators, welding electrodes and fireproof insulation from Broker Expert.
The shipments from Broker Expert show how Wagner has been receiving supplies despite United States sanctions. In addition to China, the Wagner Group has also been supplied by North Korea and even tried to obtain weapons from Turkey, a nato ally.
Russia-Asia alliance: While the majority of the West has condemned and sanctioned Russia for its war on Ukraine, many Asian countries have held back from speaking against Russia. These Asian nations, such as China and North Korea, continue to do business with Russia and consequently assist Russia’s actions.
When these Asian nations—extremely powerful nuclear-armed countries—begin to show solidarity with each other … what does that portend for the world? … It will cause many serious problems. And it is going to affect everyone. …
[W]e have been proclaiming for over 50 years that Russia, China and other Asian nations would ally themselves in the end time. And we are in that end time now.
