Missouri v. Biden: Federal Judge Upholds Free Speech

Louisiana federal judge Terry A. Doughty on Tuesday blocked Biden administration officials from contacting social media companies about censorship.

Missouri v. Biden was filed on May 5, 2022, by the attorneys general of Missouri and Louisiana. The civil case set out to prove that the White House colluded with Big Tech social media companies to violate the First Amendment by censoring opposing viewpoints. The plaintiff accused them of suppressing conservative-leaning free speech in areas such as:

  • The Hunter Biden laptop prior to the 2020 presidential election
  • Theories that covid-19 originated in a lab leak
  • The efficiency of face masks
  • Criticisms of covid-19 lockdowns
  • Questioning the efficiency of or bringing up potential health risks of the covid-19 vaccine
  • Illegitimacy of the 2020 presidential election
  • Security concerns of mail-in ballots
  • Parody content about left-leaning figures
  • Negative posts about the economy
  • Negative posts about Joe Biden.

This aggressive burial of right-wing voices was achieved through “public pressure campaigns, private meetings and other forms of direct communication,” Doughty noted. He called it “the most massive attack against free speech in United States’ history.”

The Biden administration hides behind the claim that it is protecting ignorant Americans from “disinformation” and “misinformation.” Doughty argued, however, that it is not the government’s job to silence the opposition.

The principal function of free speech under the United States’ system of government is to invite dispute; it may indeed best serve its high purpose when it induces a condition of unrest, creates dissatisfaction with conditions as they are, or even stirs people to anger.
—Terry Doughty

Under Doughty’s 155-page memorandum, certain executive agencies will now be prohibited from communicating with social media companies for “the purpose of urging, encouraging, pressuring or inducing in any manner the removal, deletion, suppression or reduction of content containing protected free speech.”

Shadow state: America’s government is evolving into an authoritarian technocracy run by bureaucrats, military leaders, intelligence agents, Wall Street financiers, media moguls and tech entrepreneurs. Radical Democrats and establishment Republicans have teamed up to censor free speech, rig elections, start endless wars, and ruin the reputation of anyone who tries to stop them.

Missouri v. Biden exposes the Biden administration’s actions in Silicon Valley as unconstitutional. Yet this ruling will do little to stop the activity. Elon Musk is slowly restoring free speech to Twitter, but the alliance between Big Government and Big Tech is so strong that the rest of Silicon Valley will likely keep taking their cues from Obama administration alumni regardless of what a Louisiana judge says. They may just have to keep their internal e-mails more internal going forward.

God is allowing America to suffer bitter affliction to show the people how far they have strayed from America’s founding principles (2 Kings 14:26-28). The nation’s only hope is to return to the God of the Bible who gave America, Britain, the Jewish state and all the other modern nations of Israel their blessings in the first place.
