Radical Senators Want Justice Department to Sue Oil Industry Over Climate Change
A radical group of five United States senators sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland on July 31 urging his Justice Department to “bring suits against the fossil-fuel industry for its long-standing and carefully coordinated campaign to mislead consumers and discredit climate science in pursuit of massive profits.”
These senators included Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Ed Markey (D-Mass.), Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.). In particular, they charged ExxonMobil, Shell and other fossil-fuel companies with violating federal racketeering laws, truth in advertising laws, and consumer protection laws by working to convince the public that fossil fuels are not the primary driver of climate change. They want the Justice Department, the Federal Trade Commission and other law enforcement agencies to file suits against these firms.
Green agenda: Pollution is a problem that humanity must face. Serious environmental issues like acid rain, soil degradation and urban sprawl are “ravaging the world.” Yet the environmentalist movement rarely discusses these issues. Instead, it is fixated on one thing: the theory of man-made global warming being caused by carbon dioxide emissions. Why not devote more attention, work, money and headline-chasing quotations to smog, pesticides, plastic pollution or contaminated drinking water?
Encouraging people to work to improve their soil, reduce urban sprawl, raise grass-fed cattle, and improve the environment in other ways does not advance the leftist agenda to take power from individuals and give it to government elites. Micromanaging carbon dioxide advances their agenda.
Marxist campaign: At the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris, UN climate official Christiana Figueres admitted that the climate-change agenda is merely a tool for destroying capitalism. And radicals like Senator Sanders think the same way.
As Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry wrote in 2017, “Environmental regulation gives significantly more power to bureaucrats. The governments most in favor of confronting climate change are the socialist, Marxist-type governments that want to control everything.”
That is actually a very evil mindset behind the climate-change campaign. Numerous scriptures in the Bible show that the devil is working to destroy end-time Israel, which is America and Britain primarily (2 Kings 14:26; Daniel 8:12; Revelation 12:12). Sabotaging America’s economy with climate lawsuits serves this purpose.
