The Real Path to Truth and Reconciliation
September 30 marked the third annual Truth and Reconciliation Day in Canada. Thousands of people across the country participated in marches and vigils commemorating the victims and survivors of the Canadian residential school system. Around 3,200 indigenous children died while attending these government-funded schools, and 10,000 are still missing. Mainly run by the Catholic Church with the goal of acclimating indigenous children to a new society, the living conditions and child mortality were shocking. It remains a black stain on the soul of the nation.
Understanding and acknowledging this history is important. Yet Truth and Reconciliation Day is not about that; it is really about permanently labeling Canada as a genocidal, systematically racist country. Its real goal is not reconciliation for being wronged in the past—it is about exacting revenge. Radicals have hijacked this history to justify upending cultural and societal norms.
What is worse is that the premise for Truth and Reconciliation Day is a fraud. The history is real; the genocide is not. Soon it will be illegal to say that in Canada.
However, this history brings up an important point: This world desperately needs truth and reconciliation. Another event on September 30 reveals the real way the world will find healing from the terrible evils humanity has inflicted and suffered for thousands of years.
Hoax of the 21st Century
The spark that started the movement to label Canada guilty of genocide was the 2021 “discovery” of 215 children’s graves in Kamloops, British Columbia, at the site of a former residential school. This shocking allegation was blasted by the media with wall-to-wall coverage. Canada Day was canceled; statues of Sir John Macdonald, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth ii were vandalized; 60 churches across Canada were burned or vandalized—yet no one has been charged. Justin Trudeau’s government fully endorsed this movement.
The government, media and activists moved so swiftly that no one asked for evidence before accepting it as truth. The “bodies” were discovered using ground-penetrating radar—meaning the reflected signal indicates something is underground but does not indicate what it is. It could be graves, or it could be rocks, tree roots or other debris. The only way to find out is through excavation.
As the Trumpet reported two years ago, some of these sites were well-known family or church burial grounds—not the site of children’s bodies buried to hide genocide. A few excavations have been undertaken—and not one has recovered a single grave or human remains.
“Minegoziibe Anishinabe, a group of indigenous people also known as Pine Creek First Nation, excavated 14 sites in the basement of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows Catholic Church near the Pine Creek Residential School in Manitoba during four weeks this summer,” reported the New York Post. “The so-called ‘anomalies’ were first detected using ground-penetrating radar, but on August 18, Chief Derek Nepinak of remote Pine Creek Indian Reserve said no remains were found.”
Kevin Yuill at Spiked Online wrote:
This is just the latest in a series of excavations of alleged burial sites at one-time residential schools. They have been undertaken at the former Mohawk school in Brantford, the former Shubenacadie Indian Residential School in Nova Scotia, the Charles Camsell Hospital in Edmonton and the Kuper Island Residential School in British Columbia. And they have all failed to unearth a single unmarked grave. This really ought to call into question the whole narrative of mass slaughter at Canada’s residential schools.
Two years and no evidence, yet the Canadian government is considering making it illegal to question this established narrative. Indigenous groups, a Senate special committee and a special interlocutor (liaison) are all calling on the Canadian government to introduce legislation that would make residential school denialism hate speech. This “denialism” would include more than denying categorical facts, but also denying Canada is guilty of genocide.
Any legal tools created to combat “denialism” will be weaponized to silence anyone looking for evidence or the truth. It will be used to indict future generations of Canadians as guilty of genocide and force a collective penance on society. As one indigenous leader said this year, “This day is not just one day. It should actually be every single day.” Radicals will not stop using this narrative until they have used it to gain complete control.
This movement is not about truth or reconciliation; it is really about power.
The Real Path of Reconciliation
There is no denying that many indigenous families and children suffered terribly in Canadian residential schools. It was an injustice that the Canadian government allowed to happen by surrendering control to those running the schools. How can justice be had for a past wrong? How should we seek real truth and reconciliation?
The truth revealed from this history is that the real cause of the residential school tragedy is not systemic racism, white supremacy or colonialism—rather, it’s human nature. The Bible reveals that human nature in Jeremiah 17:9: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” This desperate wickedness is the cause of all the injustice, deaths and terrible evils inflicted throughout history. Humanity is not naturally good; we naturally drift toward evil—no matter our skin color, nationality or creed.
However, this does not rationalize away the penalty for evil. The Bible also teaches that God holds individuals responsible for their own sins (Romans 6:23). Deuteronomy 24:16 says: “The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.” True justice does not come from holding the sins of previous generations over the heads of their children. The entire premise of a collective national penance will not bring healing—it will not fix the real problem, which is not white racist colonialism but human nature.
This human nature is directly influenced by Satan the devil (Ephesians 2:2). Satan actually rules the Earth (2 Corinthians 4:4). This is not God’s world. That is why so many evils happen.
So how can we find true justice, healing and reconciliation for evils committed in the past or ones we are suffering from? That is a question nearly every human has asked throughout the ages. God’s master plan provides the inspiring answer.
On September 30, the same day as the Truth and Reconciliation commemorations, members of God’s true Church celebrated the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles (Leviticus 23:34). This pictures the time in the very near future when Jesus Christ will have returned and restored the government of God to this Earth. Satan the devil and his evil influence will be banished. Christ will immediately confront all injustice and evil, and He will set His hand to change human nature! This will be the 1,000-year rule of the Kingdom of God (Revelation 20:6), which will be a real utopia for those still living on Earth!
Notice the picture painted by the late Herbert W. Armstrong in his booklet The Wonderful World Tomorrow—What It Will Be Like:
Christ, the King of kings. Perfect in character, absolute in honesty, integrity, faithfulness, loyalty and trust; filled with outgoing concern for the governed—their welfare and salvation; total knowledge, understanding, wisdom. Complete love, mercy, patience, kindness, compassion, forgiveness. Yet possessing total power, and never compromising one millionth of an inch with His perfect law—which is the way of love. He will enforce God’s law—God’s government on Earth. He will compel haughty, carnal, rebellious humans to yield in complete submission to God’s government.
No one will be deceived—as the vast majority of mankind is today. All will know the truth. No more religious confusion. Eyes will be opened to the truth. Humans will become teachable. People will start living God’s way—the way of outgoing concern for others—the way of the true values—the way of peace, of happiness, of well-being, of joy.
The entire world will be filled with truth. Through repentance and education in God’s laws and ways, by accepting Jesus Christ’s sacrifice as payment for our individual sins, the world will finally have the chance to be reconciled to God and their past. Christ actually leads the ministry of reconciliation: “And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:18-19).
What about those who have already died who committed great injustices, or were the victims of sin?
At the end of the millennial utopia, God will resurrect everyone who has ever lived, who never had the chance for spiritual salvation and knowing God’s way of life (Revelation 20:11-12). All of the children who died at residential schools will be resurrected. They will be given 100 years to enjoy God’s utopia without Satan’s evil influence on civilization (Isaiah 65:20). Those who committed great atrocities will also have an opportunity to learn and live God’s way of life. Everyone will have to repent for his or her own individual sins. This is how God will heal and bring justice for everything that has happened in human history.
This is how truth and reconciliation will finally be achieved in the world.
This is the inspiring truth of the Bible. This entire master plan of God outlined in the Scriptures, of achieving truth and reconciliation, has one ultimate goal: to multiply the Family of God! All humans will be given the opportunity to become spiritual children of God. That is the destination of this plan. All those children who died in those schools will have a chance to be God’s own children and live forever.
