Was Hamas Aiming for Jerusalem on October 7?

Drawings, food, gear, maps, notes and weapons recovered from fallen Hamas terrorists in Israel indicate that their goal was to move across the nation into the West Bank. The Washington Post reported on November 12 that assault teams had several days’ worth of food and supplies and that dead soldiers carried plans to move across Israel.

“They planned a second phase, including in major Israeli cities and military bases,” a senior Israeli official said.

This sheds further light on comments made by Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh on October 7, the day of the invasion. He said the terrorists were “leading a heroic campaign aimed at defending the al-Aqsa Mosque, the holy places and the [Palestinian] prisoners.” Al-Aqsa is in the West Bank—specifically, East Jerusalem.

Forecast takeover: In 2005, as Hamas was becoming a more powerful political force, Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry said, “Now it appears that the Hamas terrorists—who are really supported by Iran—are about to get control of the Palestinians.”

The next month, Hamas took over the Palestinian government, shocking the world.

Mr. Flurry based his forecast on Bible prophecy. The Bible foretold the state of the world today, and it tells of events to come. One such prophecy, recorded in Zechariah 14:2, says half of Jerusalem will fall into the hands of Israel’s enemies.

Hamas’s recent invasion shows that radical Islam—backed by Iran—is working harder than ever to seize Jerusalem. Tensions in the Middle East will only grow more fraught, culminating in the dramatic fall of East Jerusalem.
