Congress Impeaches Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas
transcript
House Republicans impeached Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas last night over his handling of the border crisis. The vote was 214 to 213, with three Republicans opposing the impeachment.
This makes Mayorkas the second cabinet secretary in United States history to be impeached. It is unlikely that the Democrat-controlled Senate will follow through and actually remove Mayorkas from office, but the impeachment is still significant. This is the first time in nearly 150 years that a cabinet secretary has been impeached.
More than 7 million illegal aliens have been apprehended at the U.S. southern border under Mayorkas’s watch, and millions more are on their way because Mayorkas refuses to comply with federal immigration laws.
House Speaker Mike Johnson said in an official statement that Mayorkas “has undermined public trust through multiple false statements to Congress, obstructed lawful oversight of the Department of Homeland Security, and violated his oath of office.”
In The United States and Britain in Prophecy, Herbert W. Armstrong showed how the peoples who settled the U.S. and Britain are descended from the Israelite tribes of Manasseh and Ephraim. This means end-time Bible prophecies about those tribes are directed at the U.S. and Britain in particular.
One prophecy in Hosea 7:8-12 says, “Foreigners eat away [Israel’s] strength, unknown to him” (Moffatt). The current border crisis proves this prophecy true.
