U.S. Says Five IDF Units Violated Human Rights
The United States State Department said on Monday that five units of the Israel Defense Forces committed human rights violations.
After a careful process, we found five Israeli units responsible for individual incidents of gross violations of human rights.
—Vedant Patel, State Department deputy spokesperson
Each incident happened before Hamas attacked on Oct. 7, 2023, and none occurred in Gaza, Patel added. The violations are believed to have been against Palestinians in the West Bank, but no details were given.
Remediated: “Four of these units have effectively remediated these violations,” Patel said. However, the fifth unit is still under investigation.
None of the units were identified in the State Department’s press briefing, but reports say the fifth unit is the battalion Netzah Yehuda, comprised mainly of ultra-Orthodox Jews.
The Biden administration began considering sanctions against Netzah Yehuda on April 20 under the Leahy Law, which would suspend U.S. assistance to the unit.
Abandonment: This is the first time the U.S. has accused Israel of violating human rights. As the whole world is pointing fingers at Israel, even America, its once biggest ally, is joining in.
The Trumpet follows this trend closely because Bible prophecy says America will soon abandon Israel.
