Russia Launches Kharkiv Offensive

Russia opened up a new offensive on Ukraine’s Kharkiv oblast on Friday.

This forces Ukraine to make tough decisions about which front to send its limited troops and supplies to as it awaits aid said to be coming in from the United States.

Details: Both Russia and Ukraine were increasing troops in the area leading up to Friday’s push. Russia’s offensive began with heavy shelling on the front line and air strikes on Vovchansk. Infantry and armored vehicles then rolled into the oblast.

Ukraine said it repelled the main force of the attack, but Russia managed to seize a few villages. Ukraine is sending reinforcements, which will be more effective when America’s aid makes it to the front line.

Prophetic perspective: Bible prophecy reveals that Russia will continue to strengthen in the months and years ahead. It will eventually lead the most powerful military alliance in human history.

Based on this prophecy, the Trumpet has long predicted that Moscow will regain control of some of its former Soviet states. In 2008, Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry wrote:

Russia’s attack on Georgia in August marks the beginning of a dangerous new era in history. This was the first military strike of a rising Asian superpower—and there will be more! … Will a crisis occur over Ukraine? That area is the breadbasket of Russia, and surely it is willing to wage war over that as well.

This push shows Putin’s determination to take Ukraine—determination that will advance the fulfillment of Bible prophecy.
