Injustice and Lawlessness: A Prophet’s Warning
Injustice and Lawlessness: A Prophet’s Warning
Justice in America today is under attack. The Department of Justice, courts of law and lawmakers are in the news daily for rank corruption, favoritism, cronyism, targeting and twisting of the law for their own benefit and to the unjust destruction of their opponents.
America’s founders spilled barrels of their own blood to fight tyranny and establish the rule of law. “The rule of law, as distinct from the rule of a person or a class of people, or as opposed to the rule of force, is an abstract, sophisticated concept,” British historian Paul Johnson wrote. There must be no exceptions. Not only is this difficult to establish, Johnson wrote, but unless you have “masses of individuals prepared to die to uphold it,” you are liable to lose it! (Sunday Telegraph, Dec. 26, 1999).
America’s forefathers established the Constitution as the supreme law of the land and based it on many biblical principles. As Johnson wrote, they started an experiment to try to establish the rule of God on Earth!
But Americans today are trashing that effort and committing grave injustices. History warns shrilly of empires and nations, from Greece to Rome to Britain and beyond, that have fallen when the rule of law was destroyed. And Bible prophecy says that America’s forsaking the Constitution and the rule of law will lead to disaster!
The Prophet Micah prophesied of the destruction of justice. He discusses a watchman. A watchman usually maintains a vigil against foreign attack. But Micah’s watchman focuses on threats inside the nation. This is an end-time prophecy: It has been preserved for 2,600 years because it is for the descendants of ancient Israel today, specifically the United States, Britain and the Jewish nation in the Middle East called Israel.
“And I said, Hear, I pray you, O heads of Jacob, and ye princes of the house of Israel; Is it not for you to know judgment?” (Micah 3:1). Micah prophesied of widespread injustice in the land. Verse 9 is a warning against the leaders of both the state (Jacob) and the churches (Israel). Like other biblical prophets, Micah cries out a warning of how ugly our nation will become when the people turn lawless!
God showed Micah people “[w]ho hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones; Who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron” (verses 2-3). This is one of the grisliest metaphors in the Bible! God compares our rulers wresting, twisting and abusing the justice system to eating people alive! God loves justice, and He hates America’s lawlessness, be it in the masses of people or in their elites. Micah cries out that those in control of the justice system and even the religious leaders don’t love right judgment neither do they have a casual attitude toward it—they abhor it!
“The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the Lord, and say, Is not the Lord among us? none evil can come upon us” (verse 11). Even those who believe in God are unjust! God warns against failing to live and obey His law or even the civil rule of law.
“The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity” (Micah 7:4). You need to be able to recognize God’s watchman in this end time. (Request your free copy of Ezekiel—The End-Time Prophet.) This is connected to the “visitation”—the Second Coming of Jesus Christ!
Just as He sent Micah and the other prophets, God sends His watchman to end-time Israel today. He warns America, Britain and the other modern nations of Israel about the sins within. He warns that their sins and lawlessness will lead to God’s punishment of these nations from without.
God wants people “to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God” (Micah 6:8). The more we watch the news, the more we should crave justice, and we cannot have real justice unless we submit not only to the rule of law or the Constitution specifically but to the Bible on which it was based!
America’s Constitution, as its framers specifically told us, will not work without “masses of individuals prepared to die to uphold it.” We are about to experience the very real consequences of that. When we lose the Constitution, we lose the last bits we have left of the law of God, and we lose everything. Each one of us must urgently consider the destruction of justice in America and beyond—and heed God’s watchman warning message!
