Uphold the Law
Uphold the Law
Witnessing the lawlessness in today’s society is heartbreaking. Lawbreakers, deceivers, destroyers and perverters with immense resources and unstoppable power are massacring law and justice from the top of society to the bottom.
Do you feel overwhelmed, powerless? Is there anything you can actually do?
Yes! While the law is cast down in society all around you, you can—you must—uphold the rule of law in your home.
When you watch the news from Congress, the White House, the Department of Justice, the Supreme Court, Silicon Valley, Wall Street and Main Street, realize what it is you are seeing. This is one enormous, ongoing, unavoidable lesson that we are breaking the laws of cause and effect.
Yes, the laws of cause and effect do exist: from the formation of galaxies to the orbits of planets to the circulation of oceans to the function of cells to the combination of atoms to, yes, the relationships of human beings. These are “the laws of nature and of nature’s God.”
Many believe the laws of the Creator do not exist. Even religious teachers assert that believing in Jesus Christ effectively abolishes the law of God—abolishes the causes and effects of relationships between human beings.
Look at the world—and the churches—around you and realize that this is not true. People everywhere are exalting their own will over the laws of the Creator and even over the laws of men, and the troubles consuming this world are the result.
If you will recognize that the laws of the Bible, “the laws of nature and of nature’s God,” are the laws of reality, and if you will obey and use them, you will no longer feel powerless!
Uphold the laws of the state. Human-made laws, whether from a tyrant or a republic, are infamously imperfect and frequently ignored and often broken. Whether you are an everyday person or an elite, you might reason that you can break the law when you can get away with it. But the Bible commands obedience to the laws of private property, public property, safety and the other laws of the state (except such laws as contradict the laws of the Bible or reality). See Mark 12:17; Romans 13:1-7; Titus 3:1-2; 1 Peter 2:13-14.
Uphold the laws of marriage in your home. Families, societies and nations are built upon their families, and families are built upon marriages. Laws of cause and effect absolutely exist in marriage, and they were created not by any politician, psychologist or religionist, but by the Creator of male and female. Obeying these laws will change your life! See Genesis 1:26-28; 2:20-25; Exodus 20:14, 17; Matthew 19:1-9; 1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:1-40; Ephesians 5:22-33; Colossians 3:18-19; Titus 2:4-5.
Uphold the laws of family in your home. The massed power of politics, culture, entertainment, music, technology and more that seems to be such an unstoppable influence on your children can be absolutely stopped by “Dad says no.” In fact, most of the negativity, division, heartache and crime committed by youths against themselves and others could be stopped by father and mother exercising the authority assigned to them by their Creator and enforcing the laws of God specifically for the benefit of their children. See Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 11:18-19; Matthew 15:3-6; Ephesians 6:1-4; Colossians 3:20-21.
Uphold the Creator’s laws of employment, the laws of health, the laws of finance, the laws of human life. You can stand up to immensely powerful forces of lawlessness, not in the legislature, the courts or the streets but in the most important battleground of all: your mind and the minds of your family.
If you accept that the laws of cause and effect exist, then you accept that a Lawgiver exists. The truth is self-evident that you are not the Lawgiver, nor is any other man or group of men. The laws of cause and effect are not the same as your will or anyone else’s. Free yourself of the deception that your own will is above the laws of nature and of nature’s God and the primal deception that lawlessness is freedom. Be a law keeper—not only of the laws of men but of the laws of the Bible: the laws of reality.
