Poland to Increase Defense Budget to ‘Highest in History’
Poland will increase its defense budget by 10 percent in 2025, Cezary Tomczyk, Poland’s deputy defense minister, said on Thursday. Poland’s defense spending “will be the highest in [its] history,” he said.
It will be a record budget, higher not only in nominal terms but also in relation to [gross domestic product].

GDP: Poland’s defense budget for 2024 is 4.2 percent of its gdp, making it the highest military spender in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
On July 2, data analytics and consulting company GlobalData forecast that Poland would spend at least 4.3 percent of gdp on defense every year up to 2029.
Following Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine, Poland nearly doubled its defense budget and has continued to expand on this commitment to European security. For at least the rest of the decade, Poland will spend at least 4.3 percent of its gdp on defense each year, which would place it on par with the U.S. and put it significantly higher than the vast majority of all other nato member countries.
