Trump Picks J. D. Vance for Vice President
President Donald Trump announced on Monday that Ohio Senator James David Vance will be his running mate for vice president.
After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of vice president of the United States is Sen. J. D. Vance of the great state of Ohio.

If put into office, Vance, who turns 40 in August, will be the youngest vice president in America’s history. He is a former marine, a Yale Law School graduate and a father of three, with two years of elected experience.
Views: Vance shares many of Trump’s conservative views:
- He believes the 2020 election was stolen.
- He is opposed to sending aid to Ukraine.
- He is against abortion.
- He wants to build a border wall.
- He wants to conduct “large-scale deportations” of illegal immigrants.
- He is a strong supporter or U.S.-Israel relations.
- He called the Iran nuclear deal “a disaster.”
J. D. has had a very successful business career in technology and finance, and now, during the campaign, will be strongly focused on the people he fought so brilliantly for, the American workers and farmers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota and far beyond. As vice president, J. D. will continue to fight for our Constitution, stand with our troops, and will do everything he can to help me MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.

‘Never-Trumper’: Vance was a critic of Trump in 2016 and used to say he was a “never-Trump guy.” He once called Trump “America’s Hitler” and a “terrible candidate.”
However, during Trump’s first presidential term, Vance’s views began to change. At a 2022 Senate debate, Vance said he now sees Trump as “the greatest president of my lifetime.”
Fighting on: Despite being shot in the ear just two nights previous, Trump attended the Republican National Convention and named Vance as his running mate. As our January 2023 Trumpet issue explains, Trump is warring for his presidency.
