‘The Lord Almighty’s Not Comin’ Down’
These are head-spinning days in American politics. Suddenly Kamala Harris is being treated as the most exciting politician in world history. It happened so fast, we can easily forget that just a moment ago, the Democratic Party was being held hostage by a man with an advanced case of disease. It’s not the disease you are thinking of, and it affects not just one man but our whole system of government.
Immediately after Joe Biden’s disastrous June 27 debate with Donald Trump, top Democrats started calling for him to withdraw from the presidential race. A rapidly swelling chorus said he was too old, too frail, too senile to be the Democrat nominee.
The criticism did not faze Biden. A week after the debate, he sat down with abc’s George Stephanopoulos and tried to put to rest concerns about his obvious cognitive decline. This interview made things worse. It provided another clear look at Biden and was a stunning picture of a disaster unfolding at the highest levels of government.
Stephanopoulos pressed Biden on his mental fitness. Biden insisted he was fine. Stephanopoulos pointed to surveys showing public skepticism. Biden said he didn’t believe the numbers. When showed polls in which he trails Trump, Biden dismissed them. He said people also counted him out four years ago, yet he still won.
Apparently, Biden has lived in a world of lies for so long, he believes them. He thinks the public loves and reveres him. He is convinced his economics, domestic policy and foreign policy have been unmitigated successes. “I’m the guy that put nato together …. I’m the guy that shut Putin down. … I’m the guy that put together a South Pacific initiative with aukus. I’m the guy that got 50 nations … to help Ukraine. I’m the guy that got Japanese to expand their budget,” he boasted.
Biden has been ensconced in the Washington, D.C., swamp since 1973. He has proved himself willing to say and do anything to advance his own interests. This made him vulnerable to corruption. Enemies of America, both foreign and domestic, used him for their own purposes. He surrounded himself with opportunists, flatterers, liars and deceivers—people who told him what to do and then assured him he was doing a bang-up job. And Biden proved to be a perfect puppet for Barack Obama to continue his fundamental transformation of America.
But very suddenly, the whole charade was exposed.
The most stunning moment in that interview came when Stephanopoulos asked if Biden would step down if it was clear he couldn’t win. “If the Lord Almighty came down and said, ‘Joe, get outta the race,’ I’d get outta the race,” Biden said. “The Lord Almighty’s not comin’ down.” But what if you lose? Stephanopoulos asked. His extraordinary response: He’s willing to lose “as long as I gave it my all and I did the goodest job as I know I can do. That’s what this is about.” For Biden, it was all about Biden, and God Himself could not tell him otherwise.
This man is the product of a corrupt system that somehow propelled him to the nation’s highest office. Joe Biden has long exhibited imperviousness to self-reflection, to honest criticism, to learning from failure; a lack of self-awareness; and the presence of monumental vanity. America’s power in the world is cratering, and he still fancies himself the only man who can do the job.
The leftists, Obama in particular, are being exposed. All of them thought “the Lord Almighty’s not comin’ down.” They were sure they could get away with their crimes indefinitely. Now their deceptions are returning to haunt them. The consequences of their chicanery are biting. Their grip on power is slipping. They are running out of aces to draw from their sleeves and rabbits to pull from their hats. And they are growing increasingly desperate as they face the prospect not just of defeat but of reckoning—of being brought to justice for their crimes.
All is unfolding with the exquisite irony of an implausible movie script. And as much as Republicans may relish these developments, it is crucial that we recognize the grander forces at work.
Put crudely, God is rubbing the noses of these people in their own filth.
Yet they seem to be learning nothing. It is growing clearer and clearer that they will lose power, just as Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry has asserted for nearly four years now. The question is not whether they will repent so much as how rabid their destructive reaction will get.
This nation has suffered immeasurably, and in some ways irreversibly, at the hand of these frauds. Why has God allowed it? Because He is cursing this nation for its sins. The corrupt political class, the sycophantic media, the complicit business class—the economic decline, the political polarization, the loss of civic cohesion—these are curses, allowed or directly imposed by God on a materialistic, vain, selfish, rebellious people.
Donald Trump’s presence in the plot is bringing it all to the surface. But we must acknowledge that even his return to the presidency—which is now more obviously certain—will not reverse the nation’s underlying moral and spiritual slide.
Only true repentance can truly turn these curses into blessings for America.
The reality is, the Lord Almighty is coming down. The day of reckoning is approaching for all of us.
Right up to the end, Joe Biden stubbornly held his ground to the doom of his party. Will America itself make the same mistake, failing to recognize its ungodly trajectory and repent?
