The attack: Shimon and Rina Daniv, a couple out on their daily walk, were stabbed first at the entrance of a park in the city of Holon, south of Tel Aviv. Rina was declared dead on the scene; her husband was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

After stabbing the couple, the terrorist went to a nearby bus stop and stabbed a man in his 70s, who was also taken to the hospital but soon died from his injuries.

The last victim, Yakov Libertov, was stabbed in the bus parking lot while walking his dog. He managed to escape from the attacker but was stabbed in the shoulder and stomach.

A police officer arrived and shot the terrorist, later identified as Amar Odeh, 34, a resident of the West Bank city of Salfit. He was taken to the Shamir Medical Center in critical condition and later died in the hospital.

He had no entry permit to Israel but no prior security offenses.

The Hamas terrorist group did not claim responsibility for the attack, but said it was a “natural response” to Israeli attacks on Palestinians and to the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Increased threats: Terrorist attacks were always a threat to Israeli lives before the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre, but that event and the resulting Israel-Hamas war has made life even more dangerous for the average Jew.
