Largest Terrorist Attack in U.S. Since 9/11 Thwarted

Canadian authorities arrested a Pakistani man on Wednesday who planned to travel to the United States to launch what he claimed would be “the largest attack on U.S. soil since 9/11.”

Details: According to prosecutors, Mohammed Shahzeb Khan, who lived in Canada, planned to enter the U.S. and open fire at a Jewish center in Brooklyn on or around October 7—the anniversary of Hamas’s 2023 attack on Israel.

Khan, a supporter of the Islamic State, planned the attack for months. According to the filing, he wanted to kill “as many Jewish civilians as possible” and said, “New York is perfect to target Jews.”

In online communications, he urged men he thought would assist him to acquire firearms and “some good hunting [knives] so we can slit their throats.”
