NATO Holds Nuclear War Drills Amid Rising Nuclear Threats
Nato’s annual two-week nuclear exercises “Steadfast Noon” began on October 14. The drills show that just as Russia is threatening to deploy nuclear weapons and as Iran is planning mass destruction, European countries are also preparing for what many now see as inevitable: nuclear war.
‘Steadfast Noon’: Each year, European members of nato prepare for nuclear scenarios through this exercise. This year, the air maneuvers will involve around 2,000 military personnel from eight air bases and more than 60 aircraft, including modern fighter jets capable of transporting America’s nuclear bombs stationed in Europe. The participating aircraft come from 13 nato states, including Germany.
The maneuvers will take place at air bases in Belgium and the Netherlands as well as in the airspace over Great Britain, Denmark and the North Sea.
In an uncertain world it is vital that we test our defense and that we strengthen our defense so that our adversaries know that nato is ready and is able to respond to any threat.
—Mark Rutte, nato secretary general
Unseen danger: The threat of nuclear war is rapidly rising in the world. But as Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry explained in “America’s Naive Trust in Germany,” the greatest threat to America and Britain actually emanates from one of its supposed greatest allies. He wrote:
In Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany and Turkey, the U.S. stores about 150 to 200 thermonuclear bombs. It originally deployed these bombs and more to nato nations in Europe during the Cold War. Are these bombs still necessary? Is it still worth the risk to leave nuclear weapons in nations that were America’s enemies as recently as World War ii? These questions apparently don’t concern American leaders, who are now giving Germany the ability to put these bombs on a stealth jet.
Does anyone remember the destruction these nations caused or the devastation nuclear weapons have wreaked?
Nuclear weapons are a horrific menace. Just one can vaporize a city full of people. Two hundred of them are enough to destroy the whole world! Yet America has given those bombs to these five nations—two of which were our bitter enemies just 75 years ago!
