Guttenberg Warns Germany of a Trump Win
What can Germany expect if Donald Trump is re-elected? To find the answers, German broadcaster BR24 interviewed “U.S. expert” Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg on November 3.
Repeated warning: Guttenberg, who served Germany previously as economics and defense minister, has spent recent years living and working in the United States. In publications, talk shows and broadcasts—such as Bild, Deutschlandfunk, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Focus, LinkedIn, Maischberger, n-TV, Süddeutsche Zeitung, wdr, Welt, Zeit and his own podcast—Guttenberg has warned about Trump multiple times over the years
Observing the changing political situation abroad and Germany’s reaction to it, Guttenberg told BR24: “Germany is breathtakingly ill-prepared.”
Negative view: Guttenberg almost always talks about Donald Trump in a negative way. He wrote on LinkedIn:
I don’t want to admit it, but Donald Trump degrades me to a voyeur. For years, I have not been able to avoid the temptation to look at abysmal depths of character. Again and again. Is it the fascination of breaking taboos? The vulgar?
If I wanted to count how many hours of my everyday life he has robbed, perhaps even poisoned, since 2016, I would come up with a considerable number.
Global consequences: A Trump return to the White House would have dramatic consequences not only for the U.S. but also for Germany and the rest of the world. “U.S. experts” like Guttenberg are preparing Germany for frosty relations. This negative view of Mr. Trump will make for self-fulfilling prophecies.
Guttenberg plays a significant role in this, and the Trumpet expects him to rise to even greater prominence.
