18 EU Member States Move Forward on Missile Defense System
Eighteen European Union member states have signed a letter of intent to work together in developing common air and missile defense systems, Euronews reported on November 21.
“What we lack are ready-to-use air defense systems,” said Polish Secretary of State for National Defense Pawel Ksawery Zalewski. “[T]his is a crucial point because having an advantage in the air defines the war.”
Groups of member states also signed letters of intent to work together in three other areas proposed by the European Defense Agency (eda): 14 agreed to cooperate in electronic warfare, 17 in munitions and 7 in European warships.
The projects will help avoid duplication in research and development and share the financial effort.
Threat detection: The development of missile defenses also includes risk monitoring using satellites, communication technologies and artificial intelligence. Member states will also use space-based sensors and radar to identify threats as early as possible.
We absolutely must increase the quantity of our systems. We must increase our capacity to understand where threats are coming from as early as possible. Secondly, we must maintain a technological lead that enables us to defeat [the enemy’s] systems.

Increased military spending: Member states are getting closer to reaching nato’s 2 percent defense spending target, according to a new report by the eda.
- The 27 nations are expected to reach $342 billion of military spending in 2024, representing 1.9 percent of the EU’s gross domestic product.
The report also says the EU’s expenditure has risen by 30 percent this year compared to 2021, before Russia invaded Ukraine.
Reshaping Europe: Russia’s prolonged war on Ukraine has prompted the Continent to work together and militarize. Your Bible shows these efforts will lead to a unified, militaristic European superpower.
