Netanyahu Trumps the ICC

A major attack on Israel may have fully backfired.

On Thursday, the International Criminal Court (icc) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and former Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif.

This is the first time the world’s top war-crimes court has called for the arrest of leaders of a democratic country. Now Netanyahu, Gallant and Deif all risk arrest should they travel to any of the 120-plus countries in the icc.

Deif, according to both Hamas and Israel, is dead. The icc probably included him as a weak attempt to seem unbiased.

Many viewed Netanyahu’s long-term political career as similarly defunct. But by attacking him, the icc may have brought him back to life.

Israel Under Attack

The icc’s accusations are one-sided, easily disprovable, and a travesty of justice. Because the claims are so baseless, Israel—including Netanyahu’s enemies—is rallying around its leader. Some have even suggested that Israel annex the West Bank in response.

Benny Gantz, the leader of Israel’s largest opposition party, deemed the allegations “moral blindness and [a] shameful stain of historic proportion that will never be forgotten.”

Opposition leader Yair Lapid said he “condemns the decision of the court in The Hague. Israel defends its life against terrorist organizations that attacked, murdered and raped our citizens; these arrest warrants are a reward for terrorism.”

Gali Baharav-Miara, Israel’s attorney general and one of the strongest forces working against Netanyahu, said, “The icc, which was meant to deal with the most severe atrocities, has today failed in its historic role.”

Columnist Sima Kadmon, a longtime Netanyahu critic, called the ruling “embarrassing” and said, “The allegations of anti-Israel-ism are understandable. Perhaps even anti-Semitism.”

Israeli President Isaac Herzog and member of Israeli Labor Party said: “This is a dark day for justice. A dark day for humanity. Taken in bad faith, the outrageous decision at the icc has turned universal justice into a universal laughing stock. It makes a mockery of the sacrifice of all those who fight for justice—from the Allied victory over the Nazis till today.”

In issuing its arrest warrant, the icc has done what even Hamas failed to do: unite Israel’s fractious political leaders behind Netanyahu. Gantz had resigned from the emergency government formed to deal with Hamas’s invasion. Baharav-Miara led an aggressive lawfare against Netanyahu that no court in any democracy could match because Israel’s judiciary system is largely free from checks and balances.

But attacks like the icc’s are giving Netanyahu’s enemies reasons to side with him. Israeli pollster Mitchell Barak said the attack is helping Netanyahu, turning “him into the victim …, the person fighting for Israel’s rights.”

Netanyahu’s party is already the most popular in Israel. This is impressive considering the constant attacks Israel faces from not only Iranian proxies but Western forces like the U.S. and United Nations. It seems that no matter the attacks he faces, Netanyahu stays strong and often becomes stronger.

Prophesied Resurgence

For those in the U.S., this trend rings familiar. Just like Netanyahu, President-elect Donald Trump faced attack after attack after attack, yet continually emerged stronger and stronger.

It is not coincidence that this is happening to both of these men at the same time.

Bible prophecy foretold that the fates of the U.S. and Israel are tied together. Hosea 5:5 says, “And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity; Judah also shall fall with them.” Our free book The United States and Britain in Prophecy proves that, in Bible prophecy, “Israel” refers to the U.S., “Ephraim” refers to the United Kingdom, and “Judah” refers to the modern nation of Israel in the Middle East.

Hosea’s prophecy reveals that the strength of these nations is linked. This prophecy shows that they will fall together, but also indicates that they will rise together. This becomes clearer when one connects Hosea 5:5 with another prophecy.

Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry has used Bible prophecy to prove that Mr. Trump is a modern type of ancient Israel’s King Jeroboam ii. Jeroboam’s reign is described in 2 Kings 14:26-28. Using verse 28, Mr. Flurry foretold that Donald Trump would return to the White House. And verse 28 also reveals that Trump’s recovery of the presidency will directly help the modern nation of Israel.

The icc’s attack on Netanyahu is uniting Israel and bringing this prophecy to pass. God is working miracles, just as He did with Trump, in Netanyahu’s life. God is causing this prophesied resurgence!

But we mustn’t forget what Hosea prophesied. This resurgence will only be temporary as God gives America and Israel one last chance to turn to Him in repentance. The responsibility is now on us to answer God’s call.
