Russia Threatens to Attack U.S. Base in Poland
A United States antimissile base in Poland “is a priority target for potential neutralization,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on November 21. The threatening statement came just hours after Russia launched the first-ever intercontinental ballistic missile strike on Ukraine.
- The new U.S. base was opened on November 13 and forms part of the nato initiative “Aegis Ashore” that includes multiple sites in Romania and Poland aimed at identifying and intercepting short- and intermediate-range ballistic missiles.
- Russia said the new base will “increase the overall level of nuclear danger” and added it to the list of potential targets.
- Poland said the base does not form a threat and does not have nuclear weapons.
Preparing for war: Increased threats from Russia have prompted Poland to take action. It recently started construction on a 400-mile-long “East Shield” defense system along its border with Russia and Belarus. It is also ramping up its defense spending, becoming nato’s highest defense spender at over 4 percent of its gross domestic product.
Other European nations are also increasing their defense capabilities to deter Russia, such as a joint project of 18 EU member states to develop common air and missile systems.
World War III? The recent escalations in Ukraine and their effects on Europe and the United States have led some to believe that a third world war will break out soon. Former Ukrainian military chief Valery Zaluhny claims that this war has already begun.
A global war is coming soon, but Bible prophecy shows it is not Russia but another power that will trigger World War iii. To learn why, read “The Ukraine War Will Not Start World War III!”
