Berlin: Anti-Semitism Hits All-time High—Again
The number of anti-Semitic offenses committed in Berlin, Germany, from January to June of 2024 was higher than the total for all 2023, according to a report published Thursday by Germany’s Federal Association of Departments for Research and Information on Anti-Semitism.
Record high: This report marks 2024 as the highest yearly total since documenting anti-Semitic incidents began in 2015.
Rates have been consistently rising, and “a downward trend is not foreseeable at the time of publication,” said the report.
The report found:
- There are about eight reports of anti-Semitism in Berlin per day.
- In the first six months of 2024, 1,383 incidents were reported, a significant increase from 1,270 in all of 2023.
- Seventy-four of the incidents occurred in academic institutions, including 27 at schools.
- There are reports of Jewish or Israeli children being abused by classmates.
Anti-Semitism has become visible in German society “in a way that has not been seen since the Nazi era,” the report stated, calling it an “omnipresent, daily burden.”
The Trumpet said: The Trumpet has long warned of the continuing rise of anti-Semitism, particularly in Europe. The Bible illuminates the reason for this type of hatred and shows that it will only grow in the months and years ahead, and will factor into the most violent war humanity has ever suffered.
