Russian Blimps Appear on NATO’s Border
Suspicious blimps have been appearing on the eastern borders of nato territory, the Telegraph reported on December 16 based on reports from Estonian border police.
One white blimp was spotted in June on the Russian side near Narva, Estonia’s third-largest city. Authorities initially ignored the blimp, but the following day it returned marked with a “Z,” the symbol of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This sparked fears among Estonians that blimps are part of a new Russian spy operation.
“We are seeing things like this nearly every week,” said Egert Belitsev, director general of the Estonian border force. He added that the blimp was intentionally made visible by Russia to send the message: “We are watching you.”
Border tensions: Narva has faced a rise in border incidents in recent months. Estonian border police said that Russian surveillance blimps have been deployed routinely, Russian guards have been removing border markers, and there have been attempts to smuggle weapons across the border.
Hybrid warfare: Russia is suspected of using various tactics to intimidate nato and undermine its security in recent months, including:
- cutting vital undersea cables between Lithuania and Sweden and between Finland and Germany;
- jamming the gps of airplanes above the Baltic Sea, Black Sea and eastern Mediterranean;
- sending incendiary devices to dhl depots in Europe;
- plotting to assassinate the ceo of Rheinmetall, Europe’s largest arms producer.
Europe’s response: Russia is growing more belligerent and bolder in its actions and intimidation against the West, prompting Europe to militarize and prepare for a potential war. Prophecy shows a unified European superpower will soon emerge and play a defining role in world events.
