North Korea to Send More Arms and Troops to Russia
North Korea is shipping more ammunition to Russia and expanding its own arms production to give Moscow what it needs to fight Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday based on recent satellite images.
While the artillery shells initially supplied to Russia were decades old, Pyongyang has recently upgraded the rocket launchers it is now sending to Russia with new control systems, the report said.
A missile manufacturing plant in North Korea producing short-range ballistic missiles to fire at Ukraine is expanding too, satellite imagery analyzed by SI Analytics shows.
Supporting the war: In November, North Korea’s foreign minister said the country would stand by Russia’s side “until the day of victory.” North Korea’s help has been crucial in enabling Russia’s prolonged war against Ukraine.
- An estimated 8 million artillery shells from Pyongyang have helped Russia fill an ammunition deficit after almost three years of fighting.
- 60 percent of artillery and mortar shells used by Russia now come from North Korea, according to Andriy Kovalenko, a Ukrainian Army officer.
- North Korea is particularly focused on supplying suicide drones to Russia, which have been used extensively to terrorize Ukrainians.
- More of these weapons for Russia are coming by ship and train, official from the United States and South Korea warned.
- 12,000 North Korean soldiers are fighting alongside Russian forces, with reports saying additional reinforcements are on their way.
Nuclear powers: In return for Pyongyang’s support, Russia is transferring cash, oil and weapons technology. Western officials are concerned Russia is helping North Korea become a more formidable nuclear power, making the emerging superpower more difficult for the U.S. and its allies to contain.
Asian axis: We expect military ties between Russia, North Korea and other Asian countries to grow even stronger in the future. Bible prophecy forecasts a colossal Asian army that will play a central role in a third world war.
