China Building Amphibious Barges Optimized for Taiwan Invasion

China is building a fleet of special “D-Day style” barges that look to be designed specifically for amphibious attacks on Taiwan, Naval News reported on Friday.

Details: At least three, and likely as many as six of these barges were seen at various stages of construction in southern China’s Guangzhou Shipyard.

  • These barges have 393-foot-long bridges extending from the front, which would be invaluable in helping invading troops avoid mined beaches.
  • They have pillars that can lower to the seafloor and stabilize the ship, even in poor weather.
  • A ramp on the back of the barges allows equipment to be loaded on them.

These ships could be used to move soldiers, trucks, tanks, etc, directly from the barge further inland if a beach is too difficult to land on. These seem too large to have civilian purposes.

Any invasion of Taiwan from the mainland would require a large number of ships to transport personnel and equipment across the Strait quickly, particularly land assets like armored vehicles. As preparation for an invasion, or at least to give China the option as leverage, I would expect to see a build-up of construction of ships [such as these] that could accomplish this transportation.

Prophetic perspective: The Bible says China will soon play a leading role in a massive Asian alliance and that America’s will to defend partners such as Taiwan will decline. Because of this, the Trumpet expects China to conquer Taiwan.
