Thousands Evacuate as Another Fire Rages in California

Firefighters in Southern California are tackling a new blaze that has consumed more than 10,000 acres, usa Today reported on Thursday.

  • The Hughes fire erupted around 45 miles northwest of Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Disaster: This destructive fire comes just two weeks after a series of wildfires broke out in Southern California, which killed at least 28 people and destroyed or damaged some 16,000 structures. AccuWeather estimates that the fires from earlier this month cost the country $250 billion in losses, making them the costliest wildfires in history.

These blazes were still not fully contained when the Hughes fire erupted.
