On Sunday, one day before Holocaust Remembrance Day, billionaire Elon Musk told a cheering crowd of Germans to “move on” from “past guilt.” He called on around 4,500 Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) supporters and Germans in general to “preserve German culture” and “protect the German people.” Germans, he noted, have “thousands of years” of history to be proud of.

“It’s good to be proud of German culture, German values, and not to lose that in some sort of multiculturalism that dilutes everything,” Musk said. His efforts to promote free speech and fight woke culture can be applauded. But his proposed solution is just as dangerous as the problem, if not worse.

While the German people have many great qualities, rallying to preserve the culture of the Holy Roman Empire is dangerous. Even if unwittingly, one of the most influential men on Earth is helping revive an evil, warlike spirit in Germany.

The German people are sort of really an ancient nation going back thousands of years. … Read Julius Caesar’s account of first encountering the German tribes in the Gallic campaigns. And he was like, Wow, very impressive. These are very powerful warriors. … I think there’s like frankly, too much of a focus on past guilt. And we need to move beyond that. Children should not be guilty of the sins of their parents, or even let alone their parents their great-grandparents, maybe even. And you should be optimistic and excited about a future for Germany.

Many mainstream politicians now praise Germany’s history. In 2017, former German Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg told Bavarians that if they don’t “recall where we came from, what our history means,” then other cultures will come in and define Germany. He urged them to remember their history “with its dark and bright sides” and to take a “non-apologetic stand for our culture.” Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry commented:

He was talking about the history of the Holy Roman Empire!

More and more Europeans want Europe to return to this history of Charlemagne. They have some gigantic crises and they are crying out for a strong leader like Charlemagne! Of course, they disregard the reality that Hitler also led a resurrection of the Holy Roman Empire!

Musk went a step further than most and said Germany must not only look to its history of “great warriors” but also forget about the associated guilt. The timing of these words was astonishing.

“The words we heard from the main actors of the AfD rally about ‘Great Germany’ and ‘the need to forget German guilt for Nazi crimes’ sounded all too familiar and ominous. Especially only hours before the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz,” Donald Tusk, prime minister of Poland, wrote.

This year marks 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz and the end of World War ii. It also marks 100 years since the first publication of Mein Kampf. Many historians have written about the causes of World War ii and the unimaginable evil of the Holocaust. But few have considered Adolf Hitler’s own words.

Concerning his time in Vienna, Hitler wrote in Mein Kampf: “This was the time in which the greatest change I was ever to experience took place in me. From a feeble cosmopolite I had turned into a fanatical anti-Semite.” He also wrote: “To me the big city appeared as the personification of incest. … The longer I stayed in this city, the more my hatred increased against the mixture of foreign nations that began to eat up this site of old German culture.”

In other words, Hitler advocated to “preserve German culture” and “protect the German people.”

For most people, what Hitler did is unfathomable. But to comprehend his actions, consider his motives. He believed German culture was under threat. This caused him to become an anti-Semite and hate foreign nations, which caused the Holocaust and World War ii. Historians have failed to understand these plain facts.

Understanding Hitler’s Mind

Mr. Flurry explains in Daniel Unlocks Revelation:

About the only thing Americans can seem to think of when it comes to Europe is someone yodeling in the Alps. They have no idea what the Holy Roman Empire is about—or what that crown is about. They don’t know anything about this deadly beast! You can travel all over central Europe and still see some of the opulence of the Habsburgs.

The Habsburgs were the sword of the Catholic Church throughout the Middle Ages. They did their killing while supporting artists like Mozart, Bach and Schubert—they were very sophisticated as they slaughtered people.

Hitler used to love to go to the opera and have his mind saturated with the music of Richard Wagner. He even said that one couldn’t understand the Third Reich without understanding Wagner, who was a sex pervert and an anti-Semite—yet Hitler was intoxicated by him.

There is a grave danger in failing to understand this history. Hitler was a product of the culture of the Holy Roman Empire. Mr. Flurry writes:

In Vienna, Hitler came to believe that God had replaced the Jews with the Germans and the Holy Roman Empire. He learned it in that cultured city—looking at all those crown jewels and the opulence of the Habsburgs.

He believed the Germans were God’s chosen people. This is why the crown jewels of that empire meant so much to him.

In 1938, Hitler had brought the insignia of the First Reich, the imperial crown, the orb of empire, the scepter and the imperial sword, from Vienna to Nuremberg. At a rally, he vowed that they would remain there forever.

There is also a spear, called the spear of destiny. Many believe it is the spear that killed Christ—which is pure nonsense. The spear is supposed to have mystical powers. The legend states that if you look at this spear long enough, it will endow you with magical power. Hitler went there often and undoubtedly was mesmerized by it and probably picked up some demonic influence.

Hitler gave a copy of Mein Kampf to every German household and organized cultural events to restore the old empire. After bringing the crown jewels back to Nuremberg, Hitler said: “In no other German city is there as strong a connection between the past and present … as in Nuremberg, the old and new imperial city. This city, which the German Reich deemed fit to defend the regalia behind its walls, has regained ownership of these symbols, which testifies to the power and the strength of the old Reich … and is manifestation of German power and greatness in a new German Reich.”

Touching the crown, he said: “The German people have declared themselves the bearers of the 1,000-year crown.” This is also part of Germany’s thousands of years of history. Hitler loved the culture of Charlemagne, Otto the Great and the Habsburgs—who all shed much blood to establish it.

Prophesied Punishment

“Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not,” Nahum 3:1 says about the ancient Assyrians. But as Mr. Flurry writes in Nahum—An End-Time Prophecy for Germany, this book is a prophecy for the modern Assyrians—Germany.

Author and journalist Leonard Cottrell wrote: “In all the annals of human conquest, it is difficult to find any people more dedicated to bloodshed and slaughter than the Assyrians. Their ferocity and cruelty have few parallels save in modern times.”

Mr. Flurry warned in 1995:

Assyria (Germany) has continually throughout history used war as an instrument to pursue their national goals. Their cruelty has been inflicted upon all of this earth’s nations! So says history and your Bible.

And now America is acting as if none of this history has even occurred! Our nation is acting like Germany has had a peace-loving history.

I can understand our leaders ignoring Bible prophecy. But how can you explain their ignoring history? No superpower can do this and survive!

No nation has brought more evil militarily than the German people. The Bible reveals Germany will rise again so God can punish the sinning people of America and Britain. Ezekiel 7:23 says: “Make a chain: for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.” Mr. Flurry wrote in that same article:

We are indeed full of bloody crimes and violence. “Wherefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pomp of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be defiled” (verse 24). The worst of the heathen militarily is Germany—anciently called Assyria.

God wants America to wake up to this danger and repent from its sins. In turn, Germany should do the same.
