Belarussian Dictator Reelected
Belarussian dictator Alexander Lukashenko, the longest-ruling leader in Europe, won his seventh term in a rigged election on Sunday.
- He claimed to receive around 87 percent of the vote.
- Four “opponents”—all of whom are loyal to Lukashenko—also appeared on the ballot.
- Lukashenko’s legitimate opponents are either jailed, exiled or suppressed.
- Over half a million people have fled Belarus since his rigged 2020 reelection.
- His 31-year reign has now been extended another five years.
Lukashenko is a major ally of Russia’s and will continue to help Russian President Vladimir Putin expand his power.
Prophesied hegemony: The Bible specifically prophesies of Putin, saying he will lead a major alliance of eastern nations. Because of this, the Trumpet expects him to gain control of former Soviet states such as Belarus.
Lukashenko’s increasingly dictatorial power in Belarus, and his near complete subordination to Putin’s Russia, is one way this prophecy is coming to pass.
