Trump Blames Ukraine for Russia’s War
United States President Donald Trump blamed Ukraine on Tuesday for the war Russia started against it, saying Ukraine “should never have started” the war.
- Trump also criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for not holding elections, calling him “grossly incompetent” and a poor negotiator.
- Trump also claimed Zelenskyy has only a 4 percent approval rating among his people, though that is demonstrably false.
Tensions are rising as Russia and Ukraine approach the war’s three-year anniversary.
The true instigator: Russia first invaded Ukraine in 2014, taking the Crimean Peninsula. For over a decade, Russia has taken advantage of the unwillingness of American and European leaders to address the problem head-on.
Russia’s total invasion of Ukraine in 2022 may end in Ukraine being thrown to the wolves by the force that has officially promised it protection: the United States.
The price of peace: Last week, Trump held a 90-minute phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate the end of the war. The terms discussed appear to require extreme concessions from Ukraine but none from Russia.
Ukraine was not invited to the recent peace talks between the U.S. and Russia.
The end of the war may be in sight, but at what cost?
The bitter end: President Trump’s approach to international affairs in regions such as the Middle East and Eastern Europe will act as a catalyst for reshaping the world. Mr. Trump believes he can negotiate in good faith with a brutal and dishonest tyrant, but time will prove that to be impossible.
The Trumpet is closely watching President Trump’s flawed approach to peacemaking. In 2023, Mr. Flurry warned:
Mr. Trump believes he could negotiate with Vladimir Putin, giving him sections of Ukraine and expecting this to pacify him. That reveals a total lack of comprehension about who he is dealing with.
