DOGE Shuts Down U.S. Institute of Peace

The Department of Government Efficiency (doge) has shut down the United States Institute of Peace (usip) after discovering it was wasting $55 million a year in taxpayer funds, according to a Tuesday post on X from the official doge account.

Resistance: President Donald Trump fired most of usip’s board on March 14. Three days later, usip staff entered a standoff with doge employees, locking all doors to the usip building and refusing to allow doge employees in. With the help of local police, doge employees were able to enter the offices and expel those refusing to comply.

For weeks, the government-funded think tank has been locked in a legal battle with Trump administration officials, accusing doge of trespassing and “takeover by force.” On March 19, a federal judge, though strongly critical of doge’s actions, declined to block the entity from taking control of usip. As a result, the organization has laid off its U.S.-based workforce and is working to fire its remaining employees abroad.

Waste: After going through usip’s books, doge discovered the organization had paid $2.2 million to an outside accountant who had deleted a terabyte of accounting data, which has now been recovered. It appears that funds were used freely and without congressional oversight. Expenditures included:

  • $13 million in a private endowment used for events and travel
  • $1.3 million to the al-Tadhamun Iraqi League for Youth
  • $675,000 for private jet services
  • $132,000 to Mohammed Qasem Halimi, former chief of protocol of the Taliban during its rule over Afghanistan

This accounts for approximately 32 percent of the $55 million in funds. doge has yet to release details of other expenditures. It has appointed one of its staff to head up usip while it decides what to do next.

usip is the latest organization on a long list of government-funded entities that are wasting American taxpayer dollars.

Exposed: Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry has explained why so much corruption is being exposed and dealt with right now. The corruption in America is just one of many curses the nation faces today, but prophecy in 2 Kings 14 shows that President Trump is leading a temporary resurgence in America.

To learn about these prophecies, read Mr. Flurry’s article “Why God Is Saving America Through Trump.”
