U.S. Considers Pulling Thousands of Troops From Eastern Europe

The United States is considering a proposal to remove as many as 10,000 soldiers from Eastern Europe, reported nbc News on Tuesday, citing six anonymous U.S. and European officials. The soldiers are currently stationed in Poland and Romania.

Afraid: “If the Pentagon adopts the proposal, it will reinforce fears that the United States is abandoning its longtime allies in Europe who view Russia as a growing threat,” European officials told nbc.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been waging full-scale war in Ukraine for over three years, and neighboring East European nations are worried he will advance into their territory next.

Warning: Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry has been warning since 2004 that Russian aggression would trigger deep fear in Europe, driving it to unify and militarize. Russia’s war in Ukraine dramatically accelerated that process. Now concerns about U.S. isolationist policies are contributing to further escalation.

As Europe loses confidence in America’s willingness to defend it against Russia, it is striding toward military independence. Last month, the European Union announced a plan to increase defense spending by €800 billion (us$875 billion).

In his 2014 article “The Crimean Crisis Is Reshaping Europe!”, Mr. Flurry wrote:

The terror that Europe has of Russia is magnified because it knows America lacks the will to help as it did in the past. America has a broken will, and Europe and the world know it!

Between an unwilling America and an aggressive Russia, Europe will be jolted into uniting into a formidable military superpower.
