Hamas stronger than Fatah in West Bank
In an address before the Knesset, Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman gave the Foreign Ministry’s opinion that Hamas was stronger than Fatah in Gaza and in the West Bank. He also said it believed Hamas is waiting for the right time before they take over the West Bank. According to the Jerusalem Post:
He explained the estimation that “Hamas does not want to seize the West Bank now due to realistic assessments.” They are waiting for the day when PA President Mahmoud Abbas and PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad “obtain the maximum that the Palestinians are able to receive from the international community, then they will seize power,” he said.
When Lieberman was asked about the difference in the Foreign Ministry’s assessment compared to other assessments from the military and security communities, the foreign minister said “the Foreign Ministry was the only one that was predicting the fall of Mubarak from power prior to it happening.”
Lieberman shouldn’t be too quick to pat himself on the back. The Trumpet predicted long before he joined the Foreign Ministry that drastic changes would take place in Egypt allowing it to be allied with Iran.
And now Leiberman’s assessment of Iranian-backed Hamas supports what the Trumpet has been saying for several years. Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry warned in 2007 that “Hamas could and probably will get control of the West Bank soon, as they did in Gaza.” Watch as this event continues to play out before our eyes.
