God is a Family. God created family. God loves family. God established the roles of father, mother and children within the family unit.

That is the message the late Herbert Armstrong declared from Pasadena, California, and around the world for over 50 years. When the attorney general of California at the time tried to shut down the work that publicized that message back in the 1970s, he failed. Americans from all backgrounds, religions and faiths supported Herbert Armstrong’s battle for the freedom to publish the good news of the gospel of the coming Kingdom (Family) of God, the original gospel message preached by Jesus Christ (Matthew 24:14).

No other state on Earth has heard this message of “God is a Family” more than California. Mr. Armstrong and the Church prevailed in that life-and-death struggle for freedom to preach the true gospel message when, on Aug. 26, 1980, the state Senate confirmed Sen. Nicholas Petris’s Senate Bill 1493. A month later, Gov. Jerry Brown signed it into law during his tenure as governor from 1975 to 1983. This repealed a part of California’s Corporation’s Code, which had been used by the attorney general to justify unconstitutional attempts to interfere with the Church’s internal administration and thus stymie the preaching and publishing of the true gospel message.

Thirty years later, Jerry Brown is once again governor of California. On July 14, he again signed another bill into law—a bill of far different intent to the one he signed in 1980. Once again the battle lines against the gospel message of the God Family vision have been drawn.

The Equality California website declared,

The fair Education Act has been passed and signed by the governor. Thank you to the more than 18,000 people who asked their legislators and the governor to support this important bill!Bill Number: SB 48The Fair, Accurate, Inclusive and Respectful (fair) Education Act would amend the Education Code to include social sciences instruction on the contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (lgbt) people. This bill would also prohibit discriminatory instruction and discriminatory materials from being adopted by the State Board of Education.

The bill requires all public schools to incorporate into their social studies program the achievements and contributions of homosexuals, lesbians and transvestites to society. Proposed by Democrat Sen. Mark Leno, SB 48 was victorious with a 23-14 vote in the State of California senate and a 49-25 vote in the Assembly.

“Current California law already mandates that schools teach about Mexican Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans, American Indians, entrepreneurs, labor and women. This bill now adds gays, lesbians, bisexual and transgender people, as well as those with disabilities, to the list of groups that must be included in history lessons” (ibid).

Raven Clabough of NewAmerican wrote,

Many oppose the bill, saying it promotes a sexual agenda. Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, helped lead the opposition to the legislation. When the measure was signed by Governor Brown, Thomasson declared, “Jerry Brown has trampled the parental rights of the broad majority of California mothers and fathers who don’t want their children to be sexually brainwashed. SB 48 has no parental opt-out. The only way parents can opt out their kids from this immoral indoctrination is to opt them out of the entire public school system, which is no longer for morally sensitive parents and their children.”

SB 48 is the first law to force education institutions to include lgbt instruction in their curriculum and furthermore promote its “achievements.” This law will no doubt have an impact on other states boasting a liberal-socialist majority, which will be itching to follow in California’s footsteps.

With the bill becoming law in California, school resource publishers, principals and teachers alike will be pressured to edit their materials and lesson plans and suppress their own personal beliefs to comply with the tyranny of the perverted minority.

“History should be honest,” said Brown. “This bill revises existing laws that prohibit discrimination in education and ensures that the important contributions of Americans from all backgrounds and walks of life are included in our history books.”

If history is to “be honest,” then it should clearly document the “contribution” that the lgbt movement has made to the rampant spread of the wretched aids disease, the perversion of young minds to embrace deviant behavior, and the social confusion that it has engendered to the weakening of the whole moral fiber of a once great nation!

Amid the backdrop of a deepening financial abyss, rampant sexual scandals, accelerating crime wave, immigration crisis and a litany of other horrendous governmental, social, economic and moral issues, California struggles to breathe what will, inevitably, soon become its final gasps, in the accelerating deadly winter of its life. Instead of heeding Herbert Armstrong’s message of “God is a Family,” California has become a vile example of endorsing the deviant and perverse!

God has an answer in His Word for SB 48 and its forced injection into the minds of California’s youth under the banner of “history” and “education.” You can read about in Gerald Flurry’s booklets Jude and Prophesy Again.

“Physical family prepares you to enter the Family of God. When the sanctity of family is gutted, it blots out man’s potential to become members of the God Family! How long will it take to straighten out those homosexual minds to the point where they can understand marriage the way God defines it? How long before they can grasp family and father the way God defines them? If they want to defy God, they’re going to answer for it. That sin destroys your will to do anything that requires character. Those who glory in that perversion have reprobate minds, and they’ll never be in the God Family until they get rid of it” (Prophesy Again).

Your physical family is the primary way God is preparing you for His Family! Laws such as SB 48 destroy the family structure God has set up. Physical family is a type of the God Family. The sin of Sodom is anti-family—anti-father, anti-mother, anti-children, anti-God!

Jesus Christ is not silent on the spirit of laws such as California’s SB 48. “Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed” (Luke 17:28-30).

For California and Bill 48, there is no escaping God’s judgment. His Word is clear. His Word, the Holy Bible—Jesus Christ, the Word, in print—declares homosexuality and lesbianism, transvestitism and every other perverse “ism” as sin, and sin is the transgression of law (1 John 3:4).

In California, 37 million people attached to the eighth-largest (albeit rapidly failing) economy in the world are being forced to submit their children to the perversion of the state’s education system enforced under Bill 48. This bill flies in the face of the wisdom of America’s Founding Fathers and the sanctity of the Constitution that founded “one nation under God”!

“In short, the founders’ generation believed that men’s and women’s interests were complementary, and they saw marriage as the divinely ordained, naturally good way to organize life. George Washington had started his presidency by pointing out that public life must be grounded on private morality. His successor, John Adams, devoted husband of Abigail, was even more specific: The ‘foundation of national morality must be laid in private families.’ He went on to say that children learn the meaning of morality, religion, and respect for law from the habitual fidelity of their parents to one another” (Angelo Codevilla, The Character of Nations).

“This is the only way to remove the sin of homosexuality!” wrote Gerald Flurry in his latest article, “The U.S. Constitution Is Over 95 Percent Destroyed!” “When Americans go from proclaiming that a free society can only exist when founded on private morality to thinking that character just doesn’t matter, it is time to ask some hard questions about the future of this nation.”

There is a saying here in the United States, “As goes California, so goes the nation.” To the question asked by our editor in chief and answered in an article titled “Is California Under a Curse?” one is left answering a resounding YES!

God help you to individually heed His truth about the very reasons He created male and female, marriage and family in advance of His promised judgment on our peoples for their escalating sins. The Creator prophesies that those God-fearing fathers, God-fearing mothers and God-fearing children who will hear and respond to His warning message will be protected from the destruction prophesied to fall upon the guilty akin to that which befell Sodom and Gomorrah for the very same sins being endorsed by state and federal governments today.

But even amid the prophecies of pending mighty godly correction for our national sins, God provides great hope! For out of that promised fiery correction will come the establishment of God’s family government over all peoples, nations and tongues on Earth. Finally, all mankind will learn to love and live His way. They will learn that God indeed is a Family.
