Kevin McCarthy lost the vote to be speaker of the House for the 12th and 13th times today, despite gaining several Republican holdout votes. The Republicans voting against McCarthy hope that if they can’t prevent him from getting in, they can at least use the vote stalemate to cut deals that will enact change in the House, including a vote on legislator term limits. The debate over who should be the next speaker of the House is exposing a lot of the sickness in Washington—and also showing Americans what democracy looks like.

Lee Smith wrote an excellent article for Tablet explaining the significance of the FBI’s corrupt ties to Twitter. As Smith pointed out, Elon Musk has revealed more through the “Twitter Files” about the FBI’s election interference through social media than John Durham’s entire three-year Russiagate investigation.
